But that’s not all! Spotify has another treat for its users this holiday season. If you’re a fan of Google Gemini, you can now connect your Spotify and Google accounts. This means you can ask Gemini Apps to play, search, or browse music on Spotify with ease.
Here are a few prompts you can try: “Play [album name] on Spotify,” “Play [song name] by [artist name] on Spotify,” “Play my Spotify playlist called,” and “Play music for [activity] on Spotify.”
For searching, you can ask things like “Search for [artist name] songs,” “Search for the song that goes [lyrics],” and “Find a Spotify playlist with [genre, mood, activity] music.”
Like most AI features today, there are a few limitations on Spotify’s Gemini AI Upgrade
For example, Gemini Apps can’t create a playlist. You’ll also need an Android device set to English as the main language. Plus, the feature isn’t turned on automatically, so you’ll need to go through a few steps to get it working.
To play or search for music on Spotify through Gemini apps, you’ll need to connect your Spotify account to your Google account. You’ll also need to enable Gemini Apps Activity on your device. If you want the exact song you ask for to play, you’ll need a Spotify Premium subscription.
To connect Spotify and Google, follow these steps:
- Ask the Gemini app to play, search, or browse music on Spotify.
- If Spotify isn’t connected, you’ll see an option to link it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Remember, this feature is only available on Android devices, and your device needs to be set to English. Also, the Spotify feature won’t work on Google Messages or the Gemini web app.
