Google has introduced Gemini 3.1 Pro, a new upgrade to its artificial intelligence model designed for more complex tasks that require deeper thinking and detailed responses.
The company says this version is meant for situations “where a simple answer isn’t enough.” With Gemini 3.1 Pro, Google is aiming to strengthen the model’s ability to understand complicated questions, connect ideas, and provide clearer, more structured explanations.
A New Step in the Gemini Series
In November, Gemini 3 Pro was introduced in a preview. In December, Gemini 3 Flash was launched. Unlike past updates, when Google typically issued a “.5” version for mid-cycle improvement,s again with a new median factor, as using is now revised “.1,” Gemini has also been updated this way.
Google stated that Gemini 3.1 Pro includes an updated logic system for better decision-making processes that were introduced with the recent addition of Gemini 3 Deep Think. New users will now have access to the improved logical reasoning system as well through Gemini 3.1 Pro.
Stronger Reasoning Performance
According to Google, Gemini 3.1 Pro has received an ARC-AGI-2 rating of 77.1%, demonstrating more than twice the reasoning capacity as compared to Gemini 3 Pro.
Gemini 3.1 Pro is useful for complex subjects with visual and written clarity, synthesizing multiple data sources into a cohesive single view, and producing creative and technical projects that require organised thinking.
As opposed to providing brief or surface responses, Gemini 3.1 Pro is designed for multi-layered questions/answers and for complex issue resolution.
Where It’s Available
Gemini 3.1 Pro is rolling out in preview through the Gemini app and NotebookLM for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
For developers, it is available through the Gemini API on platforms including Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini CLI, Antigravity, and Android Studio.
Preview Phase Before Wider Release
Google has launched Gemini 3.1 Pro in preview to test the improvements and gather feedback. The company said this phase will help validate the updates and continue advancing areas such as agent-based workflows before making the model generally available.
With Gemini 3.1 Pro, Google is focusing on strengthening reasoning and practical usefulness, positioning the model as a tool for users who need more than quick answers and are looking for deeper, structured insights.
