Stop Doing These 11 Things On Your Android Phone Right Now

The performance, battery power, and security of an Android phone will depend largely on how the user interacts with their phone.

If you have noticed a decrease in the speed of your Android device, there might be an issue at your end only.

To just erase that inconvenience, here are some simple things that you should avoid doing, which make your phone slow or lag

11 Things You Shouldn’t Do To Your Android Phones

  1. Ignoring Software Updates

Skipping updates is one of the worst things you can do.

Updates don’t just add features, they fix bugs, improve performance, and patch security gaps. Running an outdated version can lead to app crashes, glitches, and even security risks.

  1. Not Restarting Your Phone

Rebooting doesn’t have to be done every day, but never doing it? Very bad choice

Rebooting can help get rid of temporary files, fix little bugs and make things run faster.

Even the National Security Agency currently suggests rebooting your phone once a week at least.

  1. Downloading Apps from Unknown Sources

Not everything outside the Google Play Store is safe.

Third-party apps can steal your data, show intrusive ads and slow down your phone

If an app looks suspicious or too good to be true, it probably is.

  1. Allowing Every Permission Without Checking

Most people just tap “Allow” without thinking.

But ask yourself, Why does a flashlight app need your location or microphone?

Go through app permissions and disable anything that feels unnecessary.

  1. Using Battery Saver All the Time

Battery Saver is a handy tool for saving battery power, but it wasn’t designed to stay on all the time.

Using Battery Saver puts limitations on any background activity, notifications, and how your device performs.

Use battery saver when you really need to and don’t use it as a permanent solution.

  1. Charging from 0% to 100% Every Time

This use gives your battery a little bit of a beating.

Modern-day lithium-ion batteries will last longer when kept between: 20% – 80% — So, don’t make this a habit of always having a full charge.

An occasional full charge is fine, just don’t make it the norm.

  1. Letting Storage Get Full

When your storage gets close to being full, your device will slow down.

Having low storage will prevent updates to your device, lagging issues, and cause apps to crash.

For optimal performance, you should have at least 10% – 15% of storage available.

  1. Using Your Phone Without Proper Security

No lock screen? No 2FA? That’s risky.

Basic protection you should have screen lock (PIN/fingerprint), two-factor authentication and updated software

Your phone holds everything; treat it like it matters.

  1. Never Clearing App Cache

Apps store temporary data to run faster, but over time, this builds up.

Too much cache can slow apps down and cause glitches

Clearing cache occasionally keeps things smooth (and no, it won’t delete your data).

  1. Connecting to Random PCs

Plugging your phone into unknown computers is a security risk.

A compromised system can transfer malware, access your files and steal sensitive data

Stick to trusted devices only.

  1. Running Too Many Apps in the Background

Multitasking is great, but overdoing it isn’t.

Too many background apps: drain battery, use RAM and slow everything down

Check battery usage and close apps you don’t need.
