Samsung Galaxy S26: Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra may introduce a new feature aimed at keeping your screen content private in public. According to several leaks this week, the phone is expected to include a Privacy Display mode that dims the screen when viewed from the side, making it harder for others to peek at what you’re doing.
The goal is to reduce “shoulder surfing” in crowded places by limiting clear visibility to the person holding the phone.
How Privacy Display Is Said to Work In Samsung Galaxy S26
Tech reporter Josh Skinner from SammyGuru managed to access an animation of the feature through Samsung’s updated Tips app by spoofing a device as the upcoming flagship. The animation shows the screen looking normal when viewed straight on, but becoming noticeably dimmer when seen from the top, bottom, or either side.
This suggests the feature works by controlling viewing angles rather than simply lowering overall brightness.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra – Manual and Automatic Controls
Leaks suggest Privacy Display will be flexible in how it’s used. Users should be able to turn it on or off manually through Quick Settings. There’s also talk of automatic activation, where the feature could switch on based on certain apps, notifications, or when the phone senses crowded environments such as public transport.
Samsung reportedly first referenced Privacy Display in One UI 8.5 code back in September 2025, with more interface elements appearing in October. The latest January 2026 leaks give the clearest picture yet of how it might function day to day.
Exclusive to the Ultra Model
So far, Privacy Display appears to be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Some industry sources believe it could be powered by Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology, though Samsung hasn’t confirmed any hardware details.
The feature is expected to join other rumored upgrades like a 12MP 3x telephoto camera, 25W wireless charging, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
What to Expect Next
Samsung hasn’t officially announced the Galaxy S26 lineup or confirmed Privacy Display. The company usually reveals its Galaxy S series in early 2026, so more details should emerge as the launch approaches.
