Best New iOS And Android Games For August 2025: This month’s coolest mobile games include a mobile Subnautica, a Zack Snyder movie tie-in, and the return of Angry Birds.
Netflix, like Google before it, seems to be struggling with its gaming plans. Even though it’s focusing on mobile games, which are easier and faster to make, Netflix recently removed 20 games from its lineup including big titles like Hades and Monument Valley 3. Not a great sign.

Now Netflix is focusing more on games based on its own shows, like this month’s Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game. It’s okay but a bit dull. Netflix subscribers can still play classics like Into The Breach, but it might be smart to enjoy them while they last.
Subnautica:
iOS and Android, £8.99 (Playdigious) – Score 8 out of 10
Originally a PC hit from 2018, Subnautica is finally on mobile. Your spaceship crashes on an ocean planet and you have to survive by gathering materials to craft gear. Think Swiss Family Robinson but with high-tech tools.
The underwater world is beautiful and slow-paced, so touch controls work well. You’ll build submarines and bases while avoiding big sea predators.
Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game
iOS and Android, free with Netflix subscription – Score 6 out of 10
Based on Zack Snyder’s forgettable films, this twin-stick shooter has a complicated but boring story told by stiff drawings of sci-fi musclemen.
Gameplay is simple: steal fuel, destroy devices, shoot enemies, defend your base, and repeat. You can play co-op online. The action is mindless but somewhat fun if you skip the story fast enough.

Bridge Constructor Studio
iOS and Android, £4.99 (Headup Games) – Score 8 out of 10
A physics-based bridge-building game that’s perfect for touchscreens, especially on iPads. You build bridges with limited materials to get vehicles safely across.
It’s easy to use and addictive, even without features like leaderboards.
Shadow Kingdom: Frontier War TD
iOS and Android, free (Pusilung) – Score 7 out of 10
This tower defense game borrows from Nightfall: Kingdom Frontier TD but with better balance and a less cartoonish style.
You control a hero, build towers, generate resources, and train troops to stop waves of enemies. Ads help speed things up, but there are some paywalls that require grinding.

Angry Birds Bounce:
iOS, free with Apple Arcade – Score 6 out of 10
The classic Angry Birds returns in a new way. Instead of knocking down buildings, you bounce birds to clear tiles. Different birds have unique powers, so picking the right ones matters.
No microtransactions here since it’s on Apple Arcade. It’s tougher than it looks but doesn’t quite capture the charm of similar games like Puzzle Bobble.
Fate War:
iOS and Android, free (IGG Singapore) – Score 2 out of 10
A terrible AI intro and bad translations set the tone for this game which plays just like Kingshot and similar titles.
You build a village, strengthen your army, and join clans. But soon you get attacked by players who spent way more money and will destroy your base repeatedly.
It’s hard to see why anyone would make a game that only rewards waiting and spending money, especially with poor AI-generated art.
