Apple has released the beta version of Apple Music 5.2 for Android users, bringing several new features and design changes. The update focuses on improving playlist creation, refreshing album and playlist layouts, and making it easier to discover live concerts.

Here is a closer look at what is new in the latest beta.

The biggest addition in this update is Playlist Playground. This new feature uses generative AI to help users create a playlist based on a simple idea or mood.

You can find Playlist Playground in the top-right corner of the Library tab. When you open it, you will see two sections. The top half allows you to create a playlist manually, just like before. The lower section lets you type in a prompt. For example, you can enter something like “relaxing evening music” or “songs for a long drive,” and Apple Music will generate a playlist within seconds.

The app also offers “New Playlist Ideas” and “Suggested Songs” to help users get started if they are unsure what to type.

This feature makes playlist creation faster and more personalised, especially for users who want something fresh without spending too much time searching.

Redesigned Albums and Playlists

With version 5.2, Apple Music has also changed the look of how albums and playlists are displayed, more closely resembling how they would appear physically on an album jacket.

Full-page images will extend beyond just the track listing – they’ll cover and fill the entire background of your screen. Therefore every time you go to listen to an album, you’ll see an immersive experience that uses the same colour scheme and design motif as the rest of that particular album.

The arrangement of playback controls has also changed, with the Play button now at the centre of the screen, where it is within easy reach. The previous pill shape for the Shuffle button has been changed to a circular shape and has been relocated to the leftmost side of the screen. The Download button is located on the opposite side of the Shuffle button. The Share Button has also moved and is now located in one of the corners of the screen.

This means that the new layout of all playback controls is clean, simple and easy to use, both with two hands and with only one hand.

Upcoming Concerts on Artist Pages

Another new addition appears on artist pages. Some artists now display an “Upcoming Concerts” badge at the top of their page.

When you scroll down, you will find a section titled “All Upcoming Concerts” below the Top Videos section. This makes it easier for fans to keep track of tour dates and live performances directly within the app.

Availability

Apple Music 5.2 is currently available in beta for Android users. Those interested can join the beta programme through the Google Play Store. The stable version of the update is expected to roll out alongside the release of iOS 26.4.

With Playlist Playground, a refreshed design, and improved concert discovery, this update brings useful improvements to the Apple Music experience on Android devices.
