Apple’s iOS 26.4 release will soon bring you new and exciting emoji options. Emoji updates include items like a treasure chest or a fight cloud.
The entire set of new emoji releases coincides with a larger overall global update, which is responsible for determining what emoji options will be made available to everyone.
Who Decides New Emojis Anyway?
Before anything lands on your iPhone, it has to get a green signal from the Unicode Consortium. This nonprofit has been setting emoji standards since 2010, making sure emojis work across all platforms, whether you are texting on an iPhone or an Android.
The latest batch comes from Unicode 17.0, finalized in September 2025. That means these emojis aren’t just Apple-exclusive; they’ll eventually appear on devices worldwide.
The 8 New Emojis Coming to iPhone
Here’s what’s actually coming with iOS 26.4:
- Ballet Dancers – Multiple skin tones, more inclusive representation
- Distorted Face – Bulging eyes, chaotic energy (this one’s meme gold)
- Fight Cloud – Straight out of cartoons, perfect for drama texts
- Hairy Creature (Sasquatch) – Cryptid fans, you finally got one
- Landslide – Rocks tumbling, low-key, useful for “things falling apart” moments
- Orca – Clean, simple, and long overdue
- Trombone – Because yes, we needed more instruments
- Treasure Chest – Packed with gold, gems, and peak “rich vibes”
What About Custom Emojis?
Apple has allowed users to create their own custom emojis with Apple Intelligence via Genmoji. Unfortunately, however, these custom creations remain non-universal.
The reason these new 8 emojis really matter is:
- They will be functional on every device.
- All users will see them the same way.
- There will be no “missing emoji” squares (due to one user not having access to the original image).
- They are, in fact, official.
When Will You Get Them?
If you are in Apple’s beta program, you might already have access. For everyone else, the rollout is expected in spring 2026, though Apple has not yet released an exact date.
And like most updates, it’ll arrive quietly, one day you update your phone, and suddenly there will be new emojis in your keyboard.
