HMD’s new smartwatches leaked, might launch with Wear OS and a camera
Smartwatches are popular these days in every age group. Whether it’s for tracking fitness, checking notifications, or wearing a stylish gadget, everyone wants a smart wearable. Now, a new name is about to enter this market. HMD, the company that makes phones and tablets and was known for Nokia-branded devices, is now working on smartwatches. According to new leaks, HMD is planning to launch two new smartwatches, and one of them might have a camera, which will be something new for this segment.
Two different models: Rubber 1 and Rubber 1S
As per the leak, both of HMD’s smartwatches will run on Wear OS. The first model might be called HMD Rubber 1, which will have a 1.85-inch OLED display, a 400 mAh battery, and health features like heart rate and SpO2 tracking sensors. It may also have a 2MP camera, which hasn’t been seen on any Wear OS watch before.
The second model might be HMD Rubber 1S, which will be smaller and simpler. It will have a 1.07-inch OLED display, a 290 mAh battery, and no camera. But it will still include heart rate and SpO2 tracking. This model seems like a budget-friendly option.
Are these smartwatches for kids?
The watch with the camera, that is, Rubber 1, seems very different. So far, a camera on a Wear OS watch is not common. Maybe it will allow you to take photos or videos without a phone. Some reports say these smartwatches might be specially made for kids, just like Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch for Kids.
Features that make them smart and strong
In terms of connectivity, both watches look good. Rubber 1 has BT 5.3, WiFi, NFC, and accelerometer support, while Rubber 1S has BT 5.0 and WiFi. Both models come with a 5ATM waterproof rating, which means they won’t get damaged in water up to 50 meters. This shows the build quality is strong and suitable for daily use.
No official confirmation yet
HMD has not officially confirmed this leak yet. But if this leak turns out to be true, HMD’s smartwatches could become a fresh option in the Wear OS market. Also, Wear OS 6 is expected to launch in the next few weeks, so HMD might release their new devices around the same time.
