New UK Health App ‘Looking After Me’ Aims To Reduce Sick Days: Taking a few days off sick might not feel like a big deal, but it’s actually costing the UK a huge amount.

According to the Office for National Statistics, the workforce misses an average of 4.4 days each year due to illness, which adds up to a staggering £100 billion in lost productivity every 12 months.

Now, there’s a new app trying to change that by helping employees stay healthier and reduce the hours they miss at work.

Introducing New UK Health App ‘Looking After Me’

Looking After Me connects employees with a national network of fully trained former NHS nurses. The app offers a range of proactive health services, including a monthly health check-in that’s completely confidential. This approach is different from anything currently available in the wellness world.

Rather than just reacting to problems, Looking After Me focuses on preventing issues before they happen. The goal is to cut absenteeism, boost staff retention, and protect leadership capacity.

Employees can also get extra support when needed, including counselling, GP access, and specialist care.

A Team with Experience

The company was founded by Ruth Tuthill, who has 20 years of experience in wellness and education, and HR strategist Claire Cooper.

We are incredibly excited to launch Looking After Me today and help companies protect the health of their employees as well as save billions of pounds in lost productivity,” Tuthill said.

This isn’t just about reducing absenteeism and improving staff retention; Looking After Me also helps with recruitment by offering a workplace benefit that in turn delivers a measurable return on investment.

You would be hard pressed to find a business leader that doesn’t describe their workforce as their greatest asset, which is why it’s so important to prioritise prevention over cure.”

How It Works

Looking After Me gives employees 15 minutes of one-on-one counselling each month with the same health coach through a secure, dedicated app. All sessions are completely confidential. Employers only receive anonymised data that shows general wellness trends or concerns across their teams.

In addition to the monthly check-ins, the app offers daily or weekly well-being checks and onsite group sessions.

For reactive care, employees can access registered counsellors and a GP within 24 hours. The app also provides mental health first aid training and crisis support.
