OpenAI has introduced a new feature for ChatGPT users called ‘ChatGPT Projects’. This feature helps users organize their chats and related files for specific topics more easily. In their announcement, OpenAI described Projects as “an easy way to organize chats that share topics or context in GPT-4.”
How ChatGPT Projects Help Organize Your Work
OpenAI shared on a support page that Projects offer a new way for users to organize their chats and files for personal use. “Projects keep chats, files, and custom instructions in one place. Use them for ongoing work, or just to keep things tidy,” the company explained.
‘Projects’ is essentially OpenAI’s version of a folder that allows users to store all information related to a topic—such as data, images, and chats—in one place. It lets users organize and separate their chats and data within ChatGPT, a feature that wasn’t available before.

OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT Projects support chats, files, and custom instructions. Additionally, it revealed that chats within Projects can use features like Canvas, Advanced Data Analysis, DALL·E, and Search.
The company stated that, for now, connectors to add files from Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive are not supported. However, this feature is expected to be added in the future.
Availability of ChatGPT Projects for Different Users
OpenAI has stated that the new feature is being rolled out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users worldwide. The company plans to make it available to Enterprise and Education users in January, and to Free users soon after.

Paying customers can create Projects in ChatGPT’s web platform and its desktop app for Windows.
For those who may not know, OpenAI has been rolling out new features for ChatGPT users throughout December. Earlier this week, the company introduced Santa Mode and video support for Advanced Voice Mode. Before that, OpenAI launched a code writing and text editing tool called Canvas for ChatGPT users.
