Anthropic built Claude AI, and named it after the AI great researcher Claude Shannon. The company was started by some former OpenAI employees who mainly focused on AI safety. The newest version of Claude AI is Claude 4 Family which includes Claude Sonnet 4, and Claude Opus 4 which was released on May 22, 2025. It brought new features such as better thinking and deep problem-solving skills and more stability. Anthropic’s clear goal has always been to create safe and responsible AI.

Claude AI is best for people who work with long documents, like researchers, lawyers, or content creators. It can handle up to 200,000 tokens of information, which makes it perfect for long and detailed documents.

  • Claude (Initial Version)
    • Launch Date: March 14, 2023
    • Why Launched: This was Anthropic’s first public release. It was made to be a helpful, safe, and honest chatbot. It showed it could do many tasks well, like creative writing, answering questions, and summarizing.
  • Claude Instant
    • Launch Date: March 14, 2023 (released with the first Claude)
    • Why Launched: This was a quicker, cheaper, and simpler version of Claude, made for getting things done fast.
  • Claude 1.3
    • Launch Date: April 18, 2023
    • Why Launched: An improved version that focused on being safer and harder to trick (meaning it resisted attempts to bypass its safety rules). It also worked with services like Slack and Poe.
  • Claude 2
    • Launch Date: July 11, 2023
    • Why Launched: A big update that made Claude available to everyone (Claude 1 was first only for certain users). It could handle much more information at once and added features like uploading PDF files for summaries and help.

    • Launch Date: November 21, 2023
    • Why Launched: This version doubled the amount of information it could handle to 200,000 tokens, letting it work with even bigger documents. Anthropic also said it was less likely to give wrong information than older versions.

ChatGPT is an AI tool from one of the successful AI company OpenAI. Its first version came out in 2022. Its new version GPT-4o was launched on May 13, 2024 for professionals and advanced Users. This version can easily work with voice, image, and text inputs.

People use ChatGPT for things like writing content, coding, making images (with DALL·E), reading text aloud, and even searching the internet in real time. It has become an all-in-one AI tool today. Whether you want to make a Ghibli-style image or work on a project, it’s ready for anything.
