Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Could Finally Arrive This September

Apple is now expected to unveil its first-ever foldable iPhone in September 2026, putting to rest earlier concerns about delays. The foldable iPhone should be released simultaneously with the iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max due to Apple’s long-standing practice of doing so each year.

After some conflicting reports of issues in the engineering testing process causing a dip in Apple’s stock, the most recent information, including information from Bloomberg, shows that they are on track to develop the foldable phone.

The foldable iPhone is not just another addition to the lineup. Apple is positioning it as a key step in reshaping the future of the iPhone, with a focus on new form factors and premium devices.

The move signals Apple’s intent to compete more aggressively in the foldable segment, where brands like Samsung have already established a presence. For Apple, this is less about catching up and more about redefining how a foldable device should work.

What to Expect From the Apple Foldable iPhone

According to reports, when unfolded, the device is designed with a larger, horizontal orientation that should improve the quality of video and gaming experiences when using it.

Apple has allegedly changed how its iOS responds when used in an expanded format to be more similar to iPad apps for improved multitasking capabilities.

Additionally, Apple has reportedly been working on two critical problems that have hindered foldable devices so far: how to reduce the number of visible creases on the screens and improve the durability of the device.

Both issues are still significant issues throughout the industry, so it seems as if Apple is going all out to ensure they have these two things addressed before they release their device.

Premium Pricing, Limited Demand?

The foldable iPhone is expected to be priced above $2,000, placing it firmly in the ultra-premium category. While that could limit mass adoption, it may help Apple push up its average selling price and margins.

Mass production has not yet begun, which means timelines could still shift slightly. But as things stand, Apple seems on course to introduce its most ambitious iPhone yet this September.
