Could Samsung’s Smart Glasses Steal the Spotlight from the Galaxy S25? – Samsung is set to release the Galaxy S25 phones in 2025, but new reports say the company is also working on its own smart glasses.
Samsung’s New Smart Glasses: A Sneak Peek
Samsung’s smart glasses are expected to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses and function in a similar way. Samsung is working with Google and Qualcomm on this new XR device. It now looks like the smart glasses could be unveiled in January 2025, alongside the Galaxy S25 launch.
This could steal some attention because while the Galaxy S25 phones seem like a typical upgrade, Samsung’s smart glasses will be a new kind of product. That will probably get a lot of people excited.

For the past ten years, Samsung has often shown off new devices at Galaxy Unpacked events, giving a sneak peek of upcoming products before officially launching them later. It’s likely that the smart glasses won’t be fully launched until July when Samsung reveals its new folding phones.
Galaxy Unpacked: First Look at the Smart Glasses in January
Yonhap News reports that the first glimpse of Samsung’s new smart glasses will likely be shown in a video or image at Galaxy Unpacked, expected on January 22. However, the software for the glasses is expected to be revealed earlier, in December 2024.
Samsung’s smart glasses, called XR glasses, won’t have a display. Instead, like the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, they will use built-in cameras for features like facial recognition, scanning QR codes, and recognizing gestures.

The glasses are also expected to have voice controls, allowing some interaction with audio feedback. They will weigh just 50g, similar to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Much of the experience will depend on how well the glasses integrate with an app, and we will likely learn more about the platform they run on soon.
