New Features Added

Garmin has added many new capabilities to their products to enhance your health, workout and daily functionality.

Among the new features are training plans that consist of timed workouts, cardio and optional strength training that will assist you in organizing your fitness regimen more effectively.

Two other new features are the glances (at various functions), which will present themselves to you while you are scrolling through your menu options on your watch.  New glances will include:

  • A battery estimate glance will give all performance information about your battery
  • A daily habit to glance at health metrics
  • A sports glance will provide frequent updates on your favourite teams

Sleep tracking has improved as well, with a sleep glance that will give projections for what time will be the best for you to go to sleep and what time you should plan on waking up based on your individual sleep patterns.  New alarm sounds have also been added, giving you more options when setting an alert.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

Alongside new enhancements, the most recent update has addressed many issues.

One of which is a fix for the music player malfunctioning whilst an activity is in progress, and sometimes resulting in a black screen, where you have to reset your device.

Another fix is for the “cycling course” – crashing when the course is full of Hills.

  • There are also improvements to:
  • Minor Software Bugs
  • Backcountry Ski Workout Profile
  • Problems with connecting watches to Wi-Fi
  • These updates will help to maintain and improve overall stability and performance.

Routine software updates will continue to increase a smartwatch’s functional life. With every new feature added and every known issue resolved, Garmin is continually providing value and improving existing products over time.

For Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 customers, the latest update will not only produce the additional functionality but also provide more reliability. If you are an owner of one of these supported models, don’t wait to update your watch so that you can utilise the changes and improvements.

Garmin’s latest release shows that even without new hardware, meaningful improvements can still arrive through software.
