Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 Based on Android 16 May Launch in Q3 2025
When Xiaomi launched its Xiaomi 15 series earlier this year, it also introduced HyperOS 2, which was based on Android 15. Now, new leaks suggest that the company is working on its next version — likely called HyperOS 3. This new version will be built on Android 16 and may launch around the same time as the Xiaomi 16 smartphone, expected in the third quarter of 2025.
When Will HyperOS 3 Be Seen First?
A well-known Chinese leaker named Digital Chat Station posted on Weibo that HyperOS 3 is under development. This version will use Android 16 as its base. Its release may happen around the same time as the Xiaomi 16 smartphone, and the operating system will likely come pre-installed on the device.
If Xiaomi follows its usual launch schedule, the Xiaomi 16 could launch in China around September or October 2025. That’s when HyperOS 3 is also expected to arrive. Other companies like Oppo, Vivo, and Honor may also release their new Android-based operating systems during that period, so Q3 could be a big month for smartphone software.
Which Devices Are Getting HyperOS 2.2 Now?
Until HyperOS 3 is ready, Xiaomi has started rolling out the HyperOS 2.2 update to its current phones. This update makes the system smoother, improves battery use, and brings a new notification design.
It also includes new AI features to make productivity tools and camera use better. The Camera Interface has also been updated to version 6.0 for a better photo and video experience.
HyperOS 2.2 is now available on phones like the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi 14 series, Redmi K70 series, Poco X7 series, and Poco F7 series. This wide rollout shows that Xiaomi wants to improve software across all its major phones.
What to Expect Next?
Xiaomi is getting ready for the launch of HyperOS 3 while also improving user experience with the current HyperOS 2.2 update. This shows the company is focused on staying strong in the smartphone market.
When HyperOS 3 launches with the Xiaomi 16, users will get a mix of new hardware and software together. This could mark a new phase for Xiaomi and help the brand stay ahead in innovation.
