Alibaba-backed AI start-up Moonshot AI has introduced an exciting new feature called “agent mode” for its flagship Kimi assistant. The update, named OK Computer, can create multi-page websites and editable slides from simple prompts, making it easier than ever for users to generate complex digital content.
Handling Big Data and Multimedia
The Beijing-based company revealed on Thursday that the new feature can handle up to 1 million rows of input data at once. It also supports multimedia outputs including text, audio, and video, giving users a lot of flexibility for creative projects.
OK Computer is currently available on Kimi’s official website for international and Hong Kong users. However, it remains in beta testing for users in mainland China.
Cautious Approach for Mainland Users
This is the second time in a few days that Moonshot AI has shown caution toward mainland users. Earlier, the company excluded them from a premium membership program released on Monday. The program offered priority access to Agent features during peak usage times.

AI agents are systems that can perform complex tasks by breaking them down into smaller subtasks. Moonshot AI safety engineer Ma Xinyu explained, “The risks with AI chatbots mainly revolve around their inputs and outputs, whereas AI agents can perform real-world actions.”
While Kimi already allowed users to generate slides from text prompts and documents, OK Computer expands its capabilities. It can now generate websites with customizable user interfaces and charts, according to a promotional video by the company.
“An agentic model with its own computer, K2 now has true agency,” Moonshot AI said in a social media post, referring to the K2 foundational model that powers the new feature.
Rock Music Inspiration
The new feature’s name, OK Computer, is a nod to the famous 1997 album by British rock band Radiohead. Moonshot AI itself is named after Pink Floyd’s iconic album The Dark Side of the Moon, founder Yang Zhilin previously revealed. Even meeting rooms at the Beijing office are named after famous rock bands including Radiohead, The Beatles, and Coldplay.
Rapid Rise in the AI World
Founded in 2023, Moonshot AI has quickly become one of China’s most valuable start-ups in the AI field. A recent evaluation of nine models by Meta Platforms and Hugging Face found that Kimi K2, released in July, was the best open-source model for carrying out agentic tasks. The highest-scoring overall model, however, was OpenAI’s GPT-5.
Other Chinese companies are also exploring AI agents, including Hangzhou-based start-up DeepSeek and Alibaba Cloud, the AI and cloud services unit of Alibaba.
The Future of AI Agents
On Wednesday, Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu Yongming highlighted the potential of AI agents, saying that systems capable of self-improvement would be a key step toward artificial superintelligence, where AI could surpass human intelligence across every domain.
