OnePlus 15R Launches With Massive Battery And Smooth 165Hz Display

The OnePlus 15 only arrived back in October, but OnePlus isn’t slowing down. The company has already unveiled another new phone, and in some ways it even outshines its five-star flagship. Meet the OnePlus 15R, a device packed with impressive features that could make it the smarter buy for many people.

A huge battery that goes the distance

One of the biggest talking points is the battery. The OnePlus 15R comes with a massive 7,400mAh battery, which is actually slightly larger than the 7,300mAh battery in the OnePlus 15. It also supports 80W fast charging, so topping up shouldn’t take long.

Even better, OnePlus says the battery is built to last, keeping at least 80 percent of its original capacity after four years of use. That’s reassuring if you plan to hold onto your phone for a while.

A fast, bright display made for smooth scrolling

The OnePlus 15R features a large 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a super-smooth 165Hz refresh rate. That matches the OnePlus 15 and is faster than what most phones offer today.

The screen is sharp too, with 450 pixels per inch, and it gets impressively bright at up to 1,800 nits. When you don’t need all that brightness, it can drop down to just 1 nit, which helps save battery.

Familiar camera power with strong video features

On the camera front, the OnePlus 15R holds its own. It uses the same 50MP main camera as the OnePlus 15, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Video fans are well looked after as well, with support for recording 4K video at up to 120fps.

Powerful performance with plenty of memory

Inside, the OnePlus 15R runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. While it’s slightly less powerful than the Elite version used in the OnePlus 15, it should still deliver excellent performance for everyday use and gaming.

The phone also comes with 12GB of RAM, which should be more than enough for smooth multitasking.

Water resistance that goes above and beyond

Durability is another strong point. The OnePlus 15R boasts IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. That’s more protection than most premium phones offer, as many stop at IP68.

A more affordable alternative to the flagship

The OnePlus 15R may not beat the OnePlus 15 in every area, but it doesn’t really need to. Its lower price makes it very appealing.

The phone starts at $699.99 / £649 for the 256GB version. There’s also a 512GB model priced at $799.99 / £729. By comparison, the OnePlus 15 starts at $899.99 / £899. Pricing and availability for Australia haven’t been confirmed yet.

A tablet and smartwatch join the launch

The OnePlus 15R didn’t arrive alone. OnePlus has also introduced the OnePlus Watch Lite and the OnePlus Pad Go 2.

The Pad Go 2 is a tablet with a 12.1-inch display offering 284 pixels per inch. It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra chipset, has 8GB of RAM, and includes a large 10,050mAh battery with 33W charging. It also supports a stylus, which is sold separately.

Available in Lavender Drift and Shadow Black, the OnePlus Pad Go 2 is open for pre-orders now. Prices start at $399.99 / £319 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model, while a 256GB 5G version costs £399. There’s no word yet on US availability for that higher-end model.

Just like the OnePlus 15R, pre-ordering the Pad Go 2 comes with perks. Buyers can get an instant £50 discount and a free gift, with the value of that gift reportedly reaching up to £249. If you want the stylus, it’s priced at £79.

With a strong lineup of new devices and aggressive pricing, OnePlus is clearly aiming to offer more choice without sacrificing quality.
