Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE: What to Expect Ahead of Launch

The most anticipated smartphone launch of the summer? You’d be hard-pressed to argue against Samsung’s new foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the all-new Flip 7 FE are dropping on July 9, and thanks to leaks flooding the internet, we’ve got a near-complete picture of what’s coming.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Getting Slim and Serious

Let’s start with the headliner. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is about to get significantly slimmer. How slim? Reportedly, it’ll be the second thinnest foldable in the world. That’s a huge leap from the bulky 12-plus millimeter form of last year’s model when folded.

But it’s not just about looks. The Fold 7 is also leveling up where it counts. A 200MP main camera is set to become standard, and in select regions, Samsung is finally offering a 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. That’s a first for its foldables and puts it in the same league as ultra-premium slabs.

Battery life, though, remains a sticking point. It’s still relatively small compared to rivals, but Samsung seems confident the software and hardware synergy will make up for it.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 Is All About That Cover Display

If the Fold 7 is the power user’s dream, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the stylish all-rounder. This year, the biggest upgrade is that massive new cover display. Instead of the awkward folder-style cutout from last year, the new screen stretches across the entire front panel. It’s the largest cover display on any clamshell foldable to date.

There’s also a modest battery boost, up by 300mAh, which should help with longevity. The chipset situation is still murky, with leaks suggesting either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy or Samsung’s own Exynos 2500. We’ll have to wait for the official launch to know for sure.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Is Real and Looks Like a Budget-Friendly Flip

And now for the newest member of the family. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is confirmed and aims to be the more affordable take on the clamshell foldable.

Spec-wise, it’s definitely toned down. Expect 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage, and a 50MP main camera. It’s rumored to be powered by the Exynos 2400, which puts it a step below the mainline Flip 7. The battery is surprisingly large at 4,000mAh, and the cover display is listed at 4.1 inches. That suggests it could still go full-screen like its premium sibling, but don’t bank on it just yet.

Color options are expected to be kept simple, with black and white finishes. The FE looks set to retain some of the older Flip 5 design language, which helps Samsung cut costs while still keeping the foldable appeal alive.
