One UI 8.5 Beta: Samsung has launched the One UI 8.5 beta program for Galaxy smartphones, giving everyone an early look at new features that will soon arrive. This update mainly focuses on making content creation easier and improving everyday usability.
One UI 8.5 Beta – First Available For Galaxy S25 Owners
The beta will open first to Galaxy S25 users in the US, the UK, and a few other selected regions. Anyone who wants to try the update early can download it using the Samsung Members app.
Samsung says the update brings “next level ease of use” with tools designed to feel smoother, faster, and more convenient.

New and Improved AI Photo Features
The AI Photo Assist feature gets a major upgrade. Users will now be able to keep using generative AI editing tools without saving after every step, which makes the editing process much more fluid. Samsung has also enhanced Quick Share to automatically recognize people in photos and suggest who you might want to send the image to.
Better Connectivity With Audio Broadcast
Samsung is improving cross-device connectivity through the Audio Broadcast upgrade. Samsung explains that it “enables effortless communication with LE Audio-supported devices nearby using Auracast. In addition to audio from media sources, users can now broadcast their voice using their Galaxy phone’s built-in microphone which is ideal for group situations like tours or events.”
Easier Access to Files Across Devices
The Storage Share feature is also becoming more useful. With One UI 8.5, files stored on other Galaxy devices will appear directly inside the My Files app. This will work over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and will even show files saved on a connected television.
Stronger Theft Protection and Security
Samsung is enhancing its Theft Protection tools to keep devices secure if they are lost or stolen. The company explains that “Failed Authentication Lock automatically locks the screen if there are too many failed attempts to verify identity by fingerprint, PIN, or password. Identity check also safeguards more settings than before, adding an extra layer of protection.”
Stable Release Expected Soon
The update will remain in beta for a few weeks before rolling out fully to Galaxy S25 devices. Other Galaxy phones will receive the update later once testing is complete.
