WhatsApp has rolled out a fix for a serious security issue in its messenger apps for Apple devices. If you’re using WhatsApp on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it’s strongly recommended that you update to the latest version right away.
The company warns that this messenger vulnerability (CVE-2025-55177) may have already been exploited, especially when combined with an iOS vulnerability (CVE-2025-43300).

Apple’s iOS Fix Is Already Live
Apple has already addressed its part of the problem by releasing iOS version 18.6.2 on August 20. If you haven’t updated your iPhone or iPad yet, now’s the time to do it.
Which Versions Are Affected
According to WhatsApp, the following versions are vulnerable:
- WhatsApp for iOS prior to 2.25.21.73
- WhatsApp Business for iOS prior to 2.25.21.78
- WhatsApp for Mac prior to 2.25.21.78
