WhatsApp Rolls Out Game-Changing Call Scheduling Feature

Tricia Wei

WhatsApp is rolling out a handy new feature that should make things a lot easier for both families and businesses. The app now lets you schedule calls in advance, so you can organize family catch-ups or set up meetings with coworkers and clients without the usual back-and-forth.

How to Schedule a Call on WhatsApp

The feature works just as you’d expect. Head to Calls > Schedule Call, choose the people or groups you want on the call, then pick the time and how long you think it’ll last.

Everyone you invite will get the details and a reminder when the call is about to start. If you’re the one who created the scheduled call, you’ll also get a notification whenever someone joins.

Where to Find Your Scheduled Calls:

Once a call is scheduled, you’ll see it in your Calls tab under “Upcoming.” If you tap on More, you can check the full list of invitees and grab call links that you can add to your calendar or share with others.

More Handy Features: Raise Hand and Emoji Reactions

WhatsApp is also rolling out a couple of other useful tools. There’s a new Raise Hand option, along with fun in-call emoji reactions. So while chatting in a group, you can quickly tap a heart, thumbs-up, or sad face without interrupting the conversation.

The Raise Hand tool will feel familiar if you’ve used apps like Google Meet or Zoom. It’s a polite way to let everyone know you’d like to jump in, without talking over whoever’s speaking.

Where the New Buttons Appear on Whatsapp

These new buttons now sit right below the video windows – you’ll see the emojis first, then Raise Hand, followed by Share Screen and Send Message.

Free Update for Everyone

And, as always, the update is totally free. If you have automatic updates turned on, it should show up on your phone, tablet, or desktop app without you needing to do anything.
