Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Review: Triple Drivers, AptX Lossless, Head Tracking But Is It Worth €200?
Xiaomi has been in the wireless earbuds game for a while now, and the Buds 5 Pro are its latest flagship shot. Following up on the solid Buds 5, these Pro models promise a more premium experience, better sound, better ANC, and better battery. So, are they actually worth the jump in price? We spent two weeks testing them across work, workouts, and everything in between. Here’s the lowdown.
Design & Comfort
The Buds 5 Pro look a lot like their non-Pro siblings, same futuristic stem design, but now with silicone tips for a proper in-ear seal. That one upgrade alone makes a massive difference. The fit is secure, comfortable, and stays put even during a sweaty gym session or a run.
The case is wider and more rectangular than the vanilla version, but still compact enough to pocket. The Titan Gray finish is slick, with a mirror-like lid that doubles as a quick face-checker (bonus points there). The IP54 rating means they’ll shrug off sweat and light rain.

Features That Matter
Under the hood, these buds pack a triple-driver setup, 11mm dynamic drivers, planar drivers, and PZT tweeters, plus dual DACs and aptX Lossless support. You also get Bluetooth 5.4, head tracking, dual device pairing, Google Fast Pair, and even wear detection sensors. The AI-powered ANC claims to block up to 55dB of noise, and from our experience, it does a pretty solid job, especially with low-end hums on buses or at the gym.
The Xiaomi Earbuds app gives you full control, from gesture remapping to EQ tweaking and ANC/transparency mode toggles. Dimensional audio with head tracking works across Android, iOS, and macOS, though it feels more like a gimmick than a game-changer.
Also, you can record audio or calls directly from the buds, surprisingly useful, but you’ll need to export files from the app manually.
Sound Quality
The sound profile here is balanced and punchy. The Pro buds deliver better bass, richer mids, and airier highs than the regular Buds 5. That triple-driver setup isn’t just spec-sheet fluff, it really makes music and movies more immersive. The silicone tips help seal in sound and boost ANC performance.

Call quality is noticeably improved, though high wind and noisy streets can still challenge the mics.
Battery & Charging
With ANC off, you’ll get about 8+ hours on a single charge, and 40 hours total with the case. Turn ANC and Lossless on, and it dips to just over 6 hours. Fast charging gives you 4+ hours from a 10-minute top-up, and yes, wireless charging is finally here.
Verdict
At €200 (€220 for the Wi-Fi model), these aren’t cheap but they’re Xiaomi’s best buds to date. If you’re deep into the Xiaomi ecosystem, the Buds 5 Pro deliver flagship-level audio, excellent features, and solid everyday reliability. The squeeze gestures could be better, but otherwise? Easy recommendation.
