You Paid for an iPhone- But Are You Even Using These 11 Features

People typically use their iPhone in the same manner day to day. Phone calls, WhatsApp, and Instagram, as well as taking photos, are the most common activities of the average iPhone user.

What most users don’t realize, is that the iPhone can do a lot more than just these activities.

Apple continues to make changes in their iPhone products with features included to help you save time, stay focused on the task at hand, and complete everyday tasks more easily than before.

If you have never looked past the basic features of your iPhone, chances are you are probably not getting the maximum benefit out of your device.

Here are 10 features on your iPhone that will change how you use your device significantly.

1. Back Tap Shortcuts

With Back Tap, you can double or triple tap the back of your phone to trigger actions like taking a screenshot, turning on the flashlight, opening apps and running shortcuts

Go to Settings >Accessibility> Touch >Back Tap and set it up

2. Live Text From Photos

You can use your camera to take more than just photos; there’s a new feature that allows it to read text!

Live Text lets you take text from a photo, translate languages on the fly and find phone numbers and addresses using the camera.

It can read from images taken with your iPhone, pictures of paper (books or magazines) or even written notes by hand.

3. Turn Your Keyboard Into a Trackpad

Editing text on a phone can be frustrating. This fixes that.

Just press and hold the spacebar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad. You can move the cursor freely and place it exactly where you want, no more tapping randomly on the screen.

4. Focus Modes

If you’re still only using Do Not Disturb, you’re missing out.

Focus Modes let you create separate profiles, allow notifications from selected apps/people and can even customize Home Screens for each mode

5. Built-In Document Scanner

You don’t need a third-party app to scan documents.

Inside the Notes app, you can scan papers and convert them into clean PDFs. It auto-detects edges, adjusts lighting, and saves neatly.

6. Background Sounds for Focus

Your iPhone can generate calming background audio, no extra apps needed.

You can play rain sounds, ocean waves and white noise

Go to Accessibility → Audio/Visual → Background Sounds.

7. Drag and Drop Between Apps

Multitasking on iPhone is more powerful than it looks. You can drag photos, files, or text from one app and drop them into another.

8. Measure Real-World Objects

The Measure app uses augmented reality to calculate dimensions. You can measure furniture, room sizes, bottles, or any objects.

9. Schedule Messages

There’s no direct “schedule message” button but using the Shortcuts app, you can automate messages to send at a specific time

10. Visual Lookup for Objects and Animals

Your iPhone can identify what’s in your photos. Just tap the info icon on an image, and it can recognize anything, like plants, pets, landmarks and more.

So, you don’t need a new phone to upgrade your experience. You just need to use the one you already have better.
