Samsung launched both Galaxy Z Flip 7 or Flip 7 FE foldables, but they are made for different types of users
Samsung has launched Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, bringing two versions of the same design into the market. Both foldable phones come with a similar clamshell look and AI features but are made for different people. Flip 7 is for premium users while Flip 7 FE is for those who want a foldable on a lower budget.
Big difference in design and display, Flip 7 has the brightest screen
Both phones look similar in design but Galaxy Z Flip 7 feels more polished. Flip 7 has a 4.1 inch edge to edge Super AMOLED FlexWindow with 2,600 nits brightness. This is one of the brightest cover screens ever in a Galaxy Flip.
Flip 7 FE has a 3.4 inch cover screen which is smaller and less bright. It also does not have an edge to edge design.
For the inside screen, Flip 7 has a 6.9 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel and Flip 7 FE has a 6.7 inch one. Both support 120Hz adaptive refresh rate but Flip 7 has a 21:9 aspect ratio while the FE has 22:9.
Flip 7 clearly leads in performance with DeX support
Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with the more powerful Exynos 2500 processor. It has 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The phone also supports Samsung DeX which lets you use it like a mini desktop when connected to a bigger screen.
Flip 7 FE has the Exynos 2400 which is less powerful. It comes with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. FE does not support DeX.
In terms of software both phones run on Android 16 with One UI 8. They also include Galaxy AI features like Gemini Live on the cover screen and advanced camera tools.
Camera specs are same but Flip 7 has extra AI features
Both phones have the same rear camera setup. There is a 50MP wide angle lens and a 12MP ultra wide along with a 10MP selfie camera. So the image quality is equal in both.
But Flip 7 gets some extra AI features like Zoom Slider and Real Time Filters which are possible because of its bigger FlexWindow and better processor.
Flip 7 also has a slightly bigger battery
Flip 7 has a 4,300mAh battery which is the biggest in any Galaxy Z Flip phone so far. It can give up to 31 hours of video playback.
Flip 7 FE has a 4,000mAh battery which is still enough for full day usage. Both phones support 25W fast charging, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare. But the 25W adapter is sold separately.
Flip 7 is a little slimmer and lighter in build quality
Both phones come with IP48 water resistance and are protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an Armour Aluminium frame. Flip 7 is 13.7mm thick when folded while the FE is 14.9mm.
In terms of weight, Flip 7 is 188g and FE is 187g. The difference of 1 gram is very hard to notice in hand.
Flip 7 has more colour options, FE keeps it simple
Flip 7 is available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red and an online exclusive Mint colour. Flip 7 FE comes only in Black and White which shows its simple style.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE are both good options. If you want performance, design and more advanced features then Flip 7 is the better choice. If you want a foldable phone within budget and do not need every premium feature, then Flip 7 FE is a strong option. The decision depends on your needs and what you prefer.
