Perplexity AI Brings Smarter Chat and Web Search to WhatsApp Users

Now a new Perplexity AI chatbot has come to WhatsApp. Earlier, ChatGPT was added to WhatsApp, and now Perplexity has also joined this popular messaging app.

Some users were unhappy with the built-in Meta AI on WhatsApp because they couldn’t remove it. But with Perplexity, it’s different. It will only show up if you choose to add it.

What does Perplexity AI do?

Perplexity is not like a writing assistant or creative tool. You can think of it like an AI search engine. It brings answers from the web and gives you clear and simple information, along with clickable sources. Answers usually come as short summaries or bullet points so you can understand things quickly.

Also, Perplexity can generate images, which the built-in Meta AI on WhatsApp cannot do right now due to some rules.

How to use Perplexity AI on WhatsApp?

To use Perplexity on WhatsApp, you have to turn it on manually. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Click on a special web link and send a message to the bot. It will then show in your WhatsApp chats until you delete it.
  2. Or, you can add it as a contact. For this, you need Perplexity’s phone number: +1 (833) 436-3285. Don’t try to call this number – it won’t answer. You still need to use the app or website to chat with it.

Now WhatsApp has three AI tools

Now WhatsApp users have three AI tools – Meta AI, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. All of them work inside WhatsApp, so you don’t need to open other apps or websites.

WhatsApp’s chat style is perfect for using these tools. You just type in the chat and get replies — no need to learn anything new.

Where else is Perplexity available?

Perplexity is also available on X (formerly Twitter). There, you can mention it in a reply to a post and get information, just like you do with the Grok bot on X.

Perplexity is launching its own web browser

Perplexity is not stopping with chat apps. The company is also launching its own web browser in May. This browser will compete with Google Chrome.

Recently, Perplexity’s CEO said that one reason for this browser is to track what users do outside the app and show them hyperpersonalised ads. This comment has caused some debate.

New partnership with Motorola

Perplexity has also partnered with Motorola. Its app will come pre-installed on the new Razr phones. You can access it by typing “Ask Perplexity” into the Moto AI assistant.
