Chinese smartphone maker Honor, once a subsidiary of Huawei, is making headlines with reports that it plans to launch a phone featuring an enormous 10,000 mAh battery early next year.
To put that in perspective, most smartphones today have batteries between 4,500 and 5,000 mAh. Honor’s new device would have roughly double that, meaning it could last far longer between charges.
A phone with this kind of battery power would be closer to a power bank in performance. For comparison, most power banks range from 10,000 mAh to 20,000 mAh, so this upcoming device could blur the line between phone and charger.
A Powerful Phone That’s Still Slim
According to a leak shared on Weibo and reported by Chinese media, Honor has already registered the new device and plans to launch it in the first months of 2026.
While a few phones on the market do offer massive batteries, they are usually large and bulky, designed for heavy-duty use rather than everyday life. Honor’s upcoming model, however, reportedly manages to stay impressively slim at just under 9 mm thick despite its huge power capacity.
Reports say the phone will come with a 6.79-inch 1.5K LTPS display, a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor, an optical fingerprint sensor, and what’s being described as a “durable body.” The device is expected to debut as the Honor Power 2.
What a 10,000 mAh Battery Really Means
A smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery could easily last two to three days of heavy use, or up to a week with lighter use. That makes it ideal for long weekends, camping trips, or anyone who doesn’t want to worry about charging every night.
It could also double as a backup power source, charging other devices like smartwatches, earbuds, and even other phones. A battery that needs to be charged less often tends to last longer over time, and it would likely handle heat and demanding apps better.
With this kind of capacity, the phone would be great for gaming, streaming, or running power-hungry AI tools without overheating or draining quickly.
Raising the Bar for Battery Life
If Honor succeeds in delivering a slim, everyday smartphone with such an enormous battery, it could push other phone makers to rethink their approach to battery life.
A device that looks like a regular smartphone but performs like a power bank could be a real game-changer – and one that gives users what they’ve been asking for all along: more power and less charging.
