Apple’s Foldable iPhone: Leaked Details On Design, Specs, And Launch

Apple has been rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone for a while. While companies like Samsung and Huawei have already released their foldable phones, Apple has kept quiet about their plans. Now, a new leak is said to have revealed some detailed information about the rumored foldable iPhone.

Apple’s Foldable iPhone: A Long-Rumored Device

The details in this leak match some earlier reports, but the source of the leak, called “zwz,” is unknown and doesn’t have a verified history.

A report from MacRumors, which was the first to share this leak, states that Apple’s rumored iPhone Fold will be over 12 inches in size when unfolded. As for the design of the device, the leaker describes the phone as “comparable to two 6.1-inch iPhones folded together.”

The leak also says that Samsung will be the exclusive supplier of the foldable display, which goes against earlier reports that Apple hasn’t decided on a supplier yet and might choose one by April this year.

Thickness and Portability: iPhone Fold’s Dimensions

It’s claimed that the iPhone Fold will be 4.6 mm thin when unfolded and 9.2 mm thick when folded, making it thinner than Apple’s M4 iPad Pro and other popular foldable phones, if true.

The leaker also mentions a “large folding mechanism” on the left rear side, meaning the phone will likely open like a book. This contradicts earlier rumors suggesting it could have a clamshell fold like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or a wrap-around design like the Huawei Mate Xs 2. Apple has reportedly tested several hinge designs, but it’s still unclear which one will be used in the final product.

Battery Specifications: 5000 mAh Power for the iPhone Fold

For the battery, the leak says the foldable iPhone will have a 5000 mAh battery made of two stainless-steel battery cells stacked in a 3D configuration. This goes against previous reports that Apple and Samsung have struggled to develop thinner batteries, which could be delaying the phone’s release.

On the camera side, it’s rumored that the iPhone Fold will have Meta Lens technology for better low-light performance and sharper images on the front camera. The main and ultra-wide rear cameras are said to have a mix of glass and plastic to make them more durable without losing image quality.

The leak suggests that the iPhone Fold might launch in the fall of 2026, but other reports say the release could be delayed until 2027 or later.
