Big Trouble for Sony: Xperia 1 VII Sales Stopped in Japan Due to Serious Issues

Sony has stopped the sales and shipping of its latest premium smartphone Xperia 1 VII in Japan. This is a big problem for the company because the phone was launched just a month ago in May and was only available in Japan and some European markets.

What is the problem?

The company said that many users have complained about the phone shutting down suddenly, restarting on its own, or not turning on at all. If it happened to just a few phones, it would be normal, but now this problem is being seen in many devices. Because of this, Sony has paused the sales of Xperia 1 VII in Japan for now.

This issue has only been reported in models sold in Japan. In other countries where the phone was launched, there is no official report of such problems. Also, Xperia 1 VII is not available in the US, and the earlier model was also not launched there. So it is likely that this phone will not come to America.

Sony’s temporary solution

If someone has Xperia 1 VII and is facing this issue, Sony has shared some basic steps that may help fix the phone:

  • Press and hold the power button and volume up button for about 20 seconds
  • Put the device into recovery mode
  • Install the latest available software update

On the official support page in Japan, Sony has clearly explained all these steps. If the problem is still not fixed after trying them, the company suggests contacting the customer service center.

Can a software update fix it?

Sony says this problem might be because of a software bug, which could be fixed with an update. But the company has not confirmed the exact reason yet. So, they are still investigating and advising users to back up their data.

It seems like Sony is also not sure if this issue is caused by software or hardware. If it can be solved with a simple update, that would be the best outcome. But if it turns out to be a hardware failure, then it can be a big risk for the company.

Sony already facing tough competition

Xperia 1 VII was already struggling in the market because of its high price and average features. There are better phones available in this price range. Now, if there is a major hardware problem, then this could be another big setback for Sony’s mobile business.
