Google Doppl App Lets You Virtually Try On Clothes With AI: No Fitting Room Needed
Google’s new app Doppl lets users create AI-generated clips of themselves wearing outfits. Try on clothes virtually using just your phone. Here’s how it works.

Google’s Doppl App Lets You Try On Clothes with AI: No Changing Room, No Hassle
Forget the fitting room, your phone might be your new fashion assistant. Google just dropped a brand-new experimental app called Doppl, and it’s giving serious Black Mirror meets Zara haul energy.
Launched on June 26 under the Google Labs banner (that’s their playground for testing futuristic features), Doppl is an AI-powered virtual try-on app that lets you see how outfits might look on you, yes, you, in motion.
Doppl: Because Static Images Are So Last Season
This isn’t your average drag-and-drop photo filter. Doppl takes things up a notch. You upload a photo of yourself, and the app generates a short animated clip of a digital version of you strutting around in that new outfit. Think of it as your personal AI fashion show.
You can upload tops, bottoms, or dresses, stuff you saw on Instagram, online stores, or even snapped on your phone and Doppl will show how they might actually look on your body. No models, no guesswork. Just you, virtually styled. And yep, you can save, revisit, or even share your favourite looks with friends. Group chat fashion approval? Sorted.
But Don’t Throw Out Your Real Mirror Just Yet

As cool as it sounds, Doppl does come with some fashion faux-pas of its own. First off, the app doesn’t support shoes, swimwear, lingerie, or accessories, yet. And because it’s still in its experimental phase, expect some glitches.
Upload just a shirt? The app might go rogue and slap on mystery jeans or phantom sneakers to complete the look. Also, don’t be surprised if the fit looks a bit off. Google’s still tweaking the AI for more accurate visuals.
Doppl App: Where to Get It
It is currently available on both Android and iOS, but only for users in the United States. If you’re outside the U.S., you’ll just have to wait and keep doom-scrolling fashion inspo in the meantime.
This latest launch builds on Google’s earlier virtual try-on tech from 2023, where you could see how clothes looked on various model body types. But with Doppl, Google’s clearly aiming to make AI shopping personal. And with competitors like Glance AI stepping into the fashion tech space, expect this trend to heat up faster than your cart during a midnight sale.
