If you have been paying attention, G-Shock is absolutely on a hot streak right now. First, we finally got the long-awaited GW-BX5600. Then the Bamford London 5600 collaboration took over watch Instagram almost overnight. Now Casio has gone right back to where it all started, and I mean really back, with the new Origami Series. Honestly, this might be the first true must-have watch release of 2026.
A Simple Idea Done Right
The concept behind the Origami Series is refreshingly straightforward. Casio takes one of Japan’s most iconic art forms, origami, and reimagines it through two classic G-Shock designs. The result feels thoughtful and cultural, without trying too hard. It stands out in a world full of endless collaborations and recycled colourways.
Two Familiar Shapes With a Twist
There are two watches in the collection. The DW-5600RGM-1 sticks to a black base with sharp white details. At first glance it feels like a traditional G-Shock, but the graphic elements give it a fresh edge.
Then there is the DW-6900RGM-5, which flips the colour scheme completely. Finished in white with black accents, it genuinely looks like folded paper on the wrist. This one really steals the show. It is easily the standout of the pair and my personal favourite by a long way.

Inspired by Paper, Built Like a G-Shock
Both watches are inspired by the creativity that comes from a single sheet of paper, elevated through the texture and strength of traditional washi paper. That influence shows up throughout the design.
One of the clearest nods to origami is the dotted fold lines, which reference valley and mountain creases. It is a small detail, but it adds a lot of character.
If you look closely, you will also notice a subtle washi-like texture on the bezel and strap. It adds depth and makes the watches feel more considered than your average release.
Small Details That Matter
A crane, the most recognisable symbol of origami worldwide, appears on both the LED backlight and the case back. It is a quiet detail, but it ties the whole theme together beautifully.
True to the craft that inspired them, both watches are made in Japan and come in special origami-inspired packaging. That extra effort really helps the release feel more meaningful and special.
Price and Availability
Both models are available now in the UK, priced at £129. If you are in the US, availability is coming soon. If this series is any sign of where G-Shock is headed next, it is shaping up to be a very good year.
