How To Delete Your Activity On Facebook: A Step-By-Step Guide
Delete Facebook Activity
SHARE

Facebook keeps a record of everything you do on the platform, such as searches, likes, comments, and posts. This is called your activity log. While only you can see this log, some people choose to delete certain activities to protect their privacy or clean up their digital footprint. If you are wondering how to delete my activity on Facebook, you’re in the right place. This guide will show you how to delete specific activities or clear your entire activity log step by step.

Why Do You Need to Delete My Activity on Facebook?

There are several reasons why someone might want to delete their activity on Facebook:

  • Privacy: You might not want others to see your search history, likes, or comments.
  • Clutter: Sometimes your activity log can get crowded with things you don’t need.
  • Digital Footprint: Deleting activities can help clean up your online presence.

Let’s dive into the steps to delete your activity on Facebook.

Deleting Specific Activities

If you want to remove just certain activities, like searches or posts, here’s how you can do it.

On Desktop (Windows or Mac):

  1. Go to Your Profile: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner.
  2. Open Activity Log: Select Settings & Privacy, then click Activity Log.
  3. Choose the Activity Type: On the left menu, select Logged Information. You can choose Search or any other activity you want to delete.
  4. Delete Activity: Click the three dots (⋯) next to the activity, then select Delete.

On Mobile (iOS or Android):

  1. Open the Menu: Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-right (Android) or bottom-right (iOS).
  2. Go to Profile: Tap your name to go to your profile, then tap Activity Log.
  3. Select the Activity Type: Scroll down to Logged Information and select Search or the activity you want to remove.
  4. Delete Activity: Tap the three dots next to the activity and select Delete.

Steps to Clear All Search History

If you want to delete everything you’ve searched for on Facebook, you can clear your search history in one go.

On Desktop:

  1. Go to Activity Log: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and go to Settings & Privacy, then click Activity Log.
  2. Select Search History: Under Logged Information, click Search.
  3. Clear Searches: In the top-right corner, click Clear Searches and confirm by clicking OK.

On Mobile:

  1. Go to Profile: Tap the Menu icon, then go to your profile.
  2. Open Activity Log: Tap Activity Log, scroll to Logged Information, and select Search.
  3. Clear Searches: Tap Clear Searches at the top and confirm by tapping Clear.

Deleting Other Activities

Besides searches, you can also delete things like posts, comments, likes, and more.

  • Unlike a Post: Click the pencil icon next to the post and select Unlike.
  • Unfriend Someone: Click the pencil icon and select Unfriend.
  • Hide a Post: Click the pencil icon and change the post’s visibility.

These options give you more control over your Facebook profile.

How to Clear Your Entire Activity Log?

While you can’t delete everything in one click, Facebook lets you clear specific histories, like search history or video watch history.

On Desktop:

  1. Go to Activity Log: Click on Settings & Privacy and then Activity Log.
  2. Clear Video History: Click on Videos You’ve Watched and then click Clear Video Watch History.
  3. Clear Search History: Click on Search History and choose Clear Searches.

On Mobile:

  1. Go to Activity Log: Tap the Menu icon, then tap Activity Log.
  2. Clear Video History: Tap Videos You’ve Watched, then tap Clear.
  3. Clear Search History: Tap Search, then tap Clear Searches.

Turning Off the Activity Log

If you don’t want Facebook to store your activities, you can turn off the activity log.

On Desktop:

  1. Go to Settings: Click the down arrow in the top-right corner and go to Settings & Privacy.
  2. Manage Activity: Click Your Facebook Information, then go to Off-Facebook Activity.
  3. Turn Off Activity: Click Manage Future Activity and toggle off Future Off-Facebook Activity.

This will stop Facebook from tracking your activities.

Conclusion

Deleting your activity on Facebook is a great way to protect your privacy and clean up your online presence. Whether you’re deleting search history, posts, or likes, Facebook gives you the power to manage your account. By following these steps, you can delete any activity you don’t want to keep. It’s easy, and it helps you control your digital footprint.

Quick Guide:

Step Action
Go to Settings & Privacy Click on your profile picture
Open Activity Log Click Activity Log
Choose Activity Type Select Search or any activity
Delete Activity Click three dots and select Delete
Clear All Search History Click Clear Searches

Now you know how to delete your activity on Facebook.
