Honor Magic V5 will become the slimmest foldable, and it’s now officially confirmed
Honor has clearly said that its new foldable phone Magic V5 will be the slimmest foldable phone in the world. Its thickness in the folded position will be only 8.8mm. This data came from a Bloomberg report. Magic V5 is slimmer than the Oppo Find N5, which was known as the world’s slimmest foldable phone till now. Oppo’s phone is 8.9mm thick. Honor has jumped from Magic V3 straight to Magic V5, skipping V4.
If we compare it with normal flagship phones, then Magic V5 is so slim that Galaxy S25 Ultra which is 8.2mm thick and iPhone 16 Pro Max which is 8.3mm, look similar. These two are not foldable phones, so the Honor V5 being a foldable and still that slim is a big thing. When kept in a pocket, this phone won’t feel bulky.
Launch date is fixed, but Samsung is also ready in this race
Honor has said that Magic V5 will launch on 2 July in China. But at the same time, Samsung is also planning to launch its new foldables smartphones such as Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Reports say Samsung’s foldables might also launch around mid or end of July.
There is a lot of talk around Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, especially about its thickness. Samsung has already started dropping teasers saying that its next Galaxy Z model will be the thinnest, lightest, and most advanced. But Honor says that no matter what Samsung claims, their Honor V5 will remain the slimmest foldable till 2025.
Fold 7’s size leaked earlier, but Honor’s confidence remains the same
Old reports shared different numbers for Galaxy Z Fold 7’s size. A report from Android Headlines said that Fold 7 could be 9.5mm thick when folded. In the unfolded state, it might be 4.5mm thick.
Another recent report by SamMobile said that Z Fold 7 might be a little slimmer around 9mm when folded and 4.54mm when unfolded. If these numbers are correct, then Fold 7 will be much slimmer than Fold 6. Fold 6’s folded thickness was 12.1mm and unfolded was 5.6mm.
Still, even with these improvements, Fold 7 will not be slimmer than Magic V5 or Oppo Find N5. No one has been able to beat Honor’s claim yet.
Honor also gave a first real-life glimpse of Magic V5
Honor has posted live shots of Magic V5 on its official Instagram handle. In these photos, the phone’s design and slim look can be clearly seen. These glimpses act like a teaser for users before the launch.
Honor has achieved its goal of making Magic V5 the world’s slimmest foldable phone. The launch date is already out, and even before phones like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 arrive, Honor has made its position clear. No matter how slim Fold 7 is, Honor is fully confident that Magic V5 will stay the world’s slimmest foldable phone till 2025.
