Samsung has been focusing a lot on AI features in its Galaxy phones for the past few years. With Galaxy AI, the company has tried to give smart features in its devices by using Google’s Gemini assistant. But now it looks like Samsung is thinking about working with a new AI partner to move ahead in the AI field. According to new reports, Perplexity AI might be added in Galaxy S26 series phones, which could be an alternative to Google Gemini.

Samsung and Perplexity are close to finalizing a deal

According to a new report by journalist Mark Gurman, Samsung and Perplexity AI are in talks for a big partnership. As per sources, both companies are discussing adding the Perplexity app as a pre-installed app in upcoming Galaxy devices. This integration will work along with Samsung’s built-in AI assistant.

The report also says that Samsung may announce this deal officially by the end of 2025. If everything goes as planned, then Perplexity AI could become the default assistant in Galaxy S26 phones instead of Google Gemini or as an alternative to it.

Perplexity search features may also come in Samsung Internet browser

Not just the assistant, Samsung is also planning to add Perplexity’s smart search features into its Internet browser app. This means users might get a better search experience inside the browser, where instead of normal search engines, they will get answers powered by AI.

Samsung’s own assistant Bixby might also get affected by this new AI integration. The report mentions that Perplexity’s technology might be used in the background of Bixby to improve its AI abilities. So Samsung is also planning to upgrade its old assistant with new AI tools.

Perplexity might replace Gemini, but nothing is final yet

This whole deal is still in the early stage. There is no official confirmation yet, and many things could change before the final launch. Bloomberg’s report also highlights that the plan is still under discussion, and things might change depending on testing and feedback.

But if Perplexity gets added, then it will be a major AI change in Galaxy S26 series. Google Gemini has been the default AI partner in Samsung phones so far, but bringing in a new assistant or option could bring a big change in the Android ecosystem.

Samsung might invest in Perplexity’s new funding round

One more important point mentioned in the report is that Samsung may become a big investor in Perplexity’s next funding round. The company is not just planning to use the AI technology but also might invest in it. If this happens, the long-term partnership between Samsung and Perplexity could become stronger.

With this investment, Samsung could get early access to new AI features being developed by Perplexity, which it can bring to future Galaxy devices.

Perplexity was earlier used in Motorola phones

Perplexity AI was first used by Motorola. They had added this AI assistant in their Razr and Edge 60 models for a short time. Instead of Gemini, users were given Perplexity’s Pro features, which got a good response.

Samsung might also take the same approach, start with limited access, and then slowly give it to more users. This can help users who feel stuck in the Gemini ecosystem and want some other option.

Future of AI assistants: from locked ecosystems to open alternatives

Samsung’s step shows a bigger trend, where Android phone makers don’t want to stay limited to just one AI assistant. Google Gemini is used a lot, but new platforms like Perplexity can increase competition and give users more flexible options.

This clearly shows that in the future, a more open and multi-platform approach for AI assistants can be better and easier for users. A big company like Samsung showing interest in Perplexity is a strong sign in this direction.

Samsung Galaxy S26 phones may include Perplexity AI, and Gemini might get replaced. Samsung and Perplexity deal is close to final.
