Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold may come with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, One UI 8 code hints at major detail
Samsung has already launched its new generation of foldable phones this month, but now all eyes are on a device that may bring a completely new form factor to the market. This device is expected to be called Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. A new report suggests that this phone might launch in October and the chipset details have also come out through Samsung’s own One UI 8 internal beta version.
One UI 8 code leak reveals chipset of Samsung tri-fold phone
In the APK teardown of One UI 8, a specific code string was found — siop_q7mq_sm8750. This code was spotted by Android Authority where ‘q7mq’ is believed to be the internal codename for Galaxy Z TriFold. On the other hand, ‘sm8750’ points to the possibility that this phone will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
This is the same flagship processor used in Galaxy S25 series and the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 7. This shows that Samsung’s tri-fold phone is also going to deliver premium performance and user experience.
Expected specifications of Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
According to earlier leaks, this device was initially tested under the name Galaxy G Fold. When fully opened, its screen size is expected to be 9.96 inches, which will give it a tablet-like look. In the folded state, the screen size may become 6.54 inches, giving a compact phone experience.
The camera setup is expected to include a triple rear camera system which might be similar to the one found in the Z Fold 7.
In terms of design this phone is likely to feature a G-type inward folding design with two folding lines. It may come with a silicon-carbon battery which is known to be efficient and lightweight. On the software side, this phone may run on Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8 skin.
Launch and availability details
Another key detail is that Samsung may launch this tri-fold phone only in South Korea and China at first. Reports suggest that the company may keep the production limited to 300,000 units or fewer. This means it could be a limited edition device and may not be available to everyone.
Samsung Mobile head TM Roh has officially confirmed that the company will launch its first tri-fold smartphone by the end of 2025. According to sources, the launch might take place in October and the pricing is expected to be in the premium range.
