Adobe’s Android Photoshop App Is A Portrait-Only Joke And Users Are Tired Of Being Beta Testers

In 2025, Adobe remains a titan in the digital media space valued higher than Nintendo, Spotify, Qualcomm, and Sony. Yet, despite its reputation and resources, the company seems baffled by a simple concept: building a functional Photoshop app for Android.

Adobe finally rolled out the long-awaited Photoshop app for Android

Earlier this week, Adobe finally rolled out the long-awaited Photoshop app for Android, several months after its iOS debut in February. Many expected the delay to signal added polish or platform-specific optimization. Instead, what users received was an app inexplicably locked in portrait mode.

The initial assumption? It was just the sign-in screen. But after logging in, opening images, and even trying multiple devices, it became clear: the app simply doesn’t support landscape mode. Testing it across the OnePlus Pad 3, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold yielded the same frustrating result.

“This app is not compatible” message

Worse still, on devices like the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra arguably the flagship of Android tablets the app wasn’t even visible on the Play Store. Accessing the official listing revealed a “This app is not compatible” message, a baffling limitation for a device tailor-made for content creation.

Meanwhile, the iPad Pro version of the app launches effortlessly in landscape orientation. The download might be slow due to spotty internet, but at least the app behaves like it understands how tablets are meant to function.

Adobe’s Photoshop app on Android is still labeled “Beta”

Adobe’s Photoshop app on Android is still labeled “Beta,” but that excuse is wearing thin. Beta status is forgivable from indie developers. But Adobe? This is a company with billions in revenue and 15 years of experience dabbling with mobile platforms. The lack of landscape support and widespread compatibility issues feel less like growing pains and more like neglect.

Editing photos in portrait mode is not ideal, not for casual users, and certainly not for professionals. Most people prefer landscape for a reason: more space, better control, and a natural workflow. So when Photoshop, the gold standard in image editing, launches on Android without these basic features, it’s more than just a disappointment it’s a statement.

And that statement seems to be: if you’re not using Apple, you’re not Adobe’s priority.

Many loyal Adobe customers are beginning to question their subscriptions. Creative Cloud, a service many have supported for years, suddenly feels less essential when the company can’t deliver a consistent experience across platforms.

In a world where Android users already feel like second-class citizens, this release only reinforces the narrative. Adobe has the resources, the knowledge, and the responsibility to do better but right now, it’s simply not delivering.
