OnePlus 13, which was launched in China last month, is receiving a major software update with the introduction of a new macro mode to its camera. The feature lets users capture close-up images using the phone’s ultra-wide angle camera. Tiny details like textures, patterns, or small objects can be captured easily.
The update comes ahead of the smartphone’s anticipated global launch.
OnePlus 13 Macro Mode: What’s New
In a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the company announced that its latest software update for the new OnePlus 13 in China introduces a new dedicated macro mode for close-up photography. It is denoted by a flower petal icon in the top right corner of the default camera app.
How to Access Macro Mode
Once users download and install this update, they’ll see a petal icon in the OnePlus 13’s default camera app, allowing them to click pictures in macro with the 50MP ultrawide camera.
Users can manually check for the update by navigating to:
Settings > System > Software Updates.
OnePlus 13 Camera Specifications
For photography, the OnePlus 13 houses a triple rear camera setup tuned by Hasselblad. It comprises a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and an f/1.6 aperture, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3x optical, 6x in-sensor, 120x digital) with OIS and an f/2.6 aperture. It also holds a 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture on the front for selfies.

OnePlus 13 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and runs Android 15-based ColorOS 15 out of the box. The smartphone arrives with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage onboard.
The device sports a 6.82″ 1,440p 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner embedded. The smartphone is backed by a 6,000 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. OnePlus 13 also has an IP69 rating.
OnePlus 13 is currently available only in China. Therefore, the update, too, is being rolled out only in the country in a phased manner.
