China Made iPhone Display Ban in US Samsung and Apple May Face Trouble
As per reports the China made iPhone display ban in the US is becoming more likely. The US International Trade Commission has passed a temporary order that blocks the use of OLED panels made by China based BOE. This issue started between Samsung and BOE but now it could also affect Apple iPhone models that use displays made in China.
Samsung and BOE Dispute Becomes Apple’s Problem Too

Samsung filed a legal case against BOE for copying their OLED panel trade secrets. The commission gave a temporary ruling that includes two major actions. One is a cease and desist order and the other is a limited exclusion order. This means any product using the disputed technology cannot be advertised sold or distributed in the US.
Reports suggest this ruling may also apply to the inventory that is already in US stores.
Which iPhone Models May Be Banned
BOE is an important supplier for Apple especially for base iPhone models. Right now BOE makes displays for iPhone 15 iPhone 15 Plus iPhone 16 iPhone 16 Plus and the upcoming iPhone 16e.
Some reports also say that Apple has approved BOE to start mass production of display panels for the iPhone 17 Pro.
If the final ruling goes ahead then these iPhone models with China made displays might not be available in the US for sale.
Apple Responds This Does Not Affect Any Product
Apple has denied these reports officially. The company said the order does not affect any of their products. In a statement Apple said they are not part of the case and the order from the commission does not apply to any Apple product.
When Will the Ban Start US President Can Still Veto
The final decision from the commission is expected in November 2025. After that the US President Donald Trump will have two months to decide if he wants to veto the trade ban.
If the President does not stop it the ruling will go ahead and affect Apple’s iPhones that use OLED displays from BOE.
The issue of banning China made iPhone displays in the US has created a new controversy involving Samsung BOE and now Apple. Everyone is waiting for the final decision and the President’s call. If the ban happens Apple may have to change its supply plans in the US.
This case shows how global supply chains can create big problems for tech companies. Now the focus is on how Apple will handle this and whether they continue their partnership with BOE in the future.
