Smartphone users may soon find it easier to transfer files between Android devices and Apple products. Oppo has announced that support for AirDrop-like file sharing through Android Quick Share will begin rolling out later this month.

The update is expected to arrive through a software upgrade and will allow Oppo users to send files more easily between their Android phones and Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads and Mac computers.

Easier File Sharing Across Different Devices

Quick Share is a wireless file-sharing feature available on Android phones. It allows users to send photos, videos and documents to nearby devices without using cables or third-party apps.

With the upcoming update, Oppo says users will be able to share files directly between Oppo smartphones and devices running Apple’s operating systems, such as iOS, iPadOS and macOS.

The company confirmed that the feature is being developed in close collaboration with MediaTek and Google LLC.

According to Oppo, the goal is to make cross-platform file sharing easier and more secure.

Expected to Arrive With Find X9 Series Update

The new feature will first be available on Oppo’s Find X9 smartphone series. These devices are powered by MediaTek processors and are among the company’s latest flagship phones.

Once the update is installed, users should be able to transfer files between Oppo phones and Apple devices without needing to install additional applications.

Improving Cross-Platform Compatibility

File sharing between Android and Apple devices has traditionally been difficult. Apple’s AirDrop system works only within its own ecosystem, allowing file transfers between iPhones, iPads and Mac computers.

The new Quick Share update aims to reduce that limitation by enabling better communication between Android phones and Apple devices.

This could make it easier for people who use both ecosystems to move files between their devices.

More AI Features Announced at MWC

Along with the Quick Share update, Oppo also introduced several new artificial intelligence features during announcements at the global technology event Mobile World Congress 2026.

These include tools such as AI Translate and AI Portrait Glow, which are expected to arrive on the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro through the company’s ColorOS 16 software.

Oppo also demonstrated a new on-device AI system called Omni. The company says this technology allows smartphones to better understand scenes around them and respond to questions directly on the device.

Possible Wider Support in the Future

While Oppo has confirmed support for its own devices, there are signs that other Android manufacturers may also adopt similar functionality in the future.

Reports suggest that upcoming smartphones from Samsung Electronics could eventually support similar cross-platform file-sharing features.

However, no official announcement has been made regarding wider rollout across other Android brands.

If successfully implemented, the Quick Share update could make everyday tasks easier for users who rely on both Android and Apple devices.
