By now, quite a lot of people are aware that Meta is the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. But for the last few years, they have also been quietly building smart glasses, glasses that can take photos, play music, answer your questions, and even translate languages in real time.
All hands-free, doing everything while looking like a regular pair of shades.
Their previous models were made in partnership with Ray-Ban, the iconic sunglasses brand. Those glasses became surprisingly popular, and Meta sold around 7 million pairs in 2025 alone, up from just 2 million across the two years before that. But they had one problem: the Ray-Ban name meant a Ray-Ban price. The previous models started at $379.
But now, Meta has come up with something new. Let’s know what it is.
What’s New in Meta Glasses
Meta just launched a brand-new line simply called Meta Glasses. No Ray-Ban name on them. No other branding, just Meta. They still work with the same company, EssilorLuxottica, which owns Ray-Ban, for manufacturing and lenses. But by removing the brand licensing cost, Meta has brought the starting price down to $299, which is much cheaper than before.
Same look, same hardware, same features, now at a lower cost.
The Three Different Styles
Meta went a step further in its launch by offering a diverse range, comprising three different models namely Meta Adventurer, Meta Fury and Meta Glasses by Kylie.
Let’s know about them one by one.
- Meta Adventurer
This is the classic rectangular frame. Clean, simple, versatile. It comes in two sizes – Standard and Large, so it can actually fit different face shapes. Think of it as the “goes with everything” option. If you want smart glasses that don’t scream tech gadget, this is the one.
- Meta Fury
Meta Fury is the second style, which is stronger, with a more square frame and a bolder look. If the Adventurer is understated, the Fury is the one that makes a statement. Same price, same features inside, just a different personality on the outside.
- Meta Glasses by Kylie
These are designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. It has an oval-shaped, slim frame and is the most fashion-forward of the three. At $399, the price may be a bit dearer, but it comes with a few exclusive touches like a custom chime that plays when you put the glasses on, and an option to replace the standard Meta AI voice with an AI-generated version of Jenner’s own voice.
Across all three styles, there are 26 total combinations of frame colours and lens options, including clear, sun, polarised, and Transitions lenses.
All three styles also support prescription lenses, meaning people who actually need glasses to see, can use these too.
How Much Do They Cost?
The pricing of these glasses is as follows:
- Meta Adventurer – $299
- Meta Fury – $299
- Meta Glasses by Kylie – $399
The first two options are the everyday go-to styles, but the Kylie Jenner collaboration is the fashion-forward pick, priced slightly higher because of its exclusive design and a few fun extras.
What Can These Glasses Actually Do?
1. Hands-Free Camera
There’s a 12-megapixel camera built into the frame, capable of shooting 3K video. You can take photos and record videos just by tapping a button or using your voice.
The camera captures from your own point of view, which makes it great for travel clips, cooking videos, or just capturing life as it happens.
A new dynamic photo feature is also coming soon, which will automatically take multiple shots and suggest the best one.
2. Open-Ear Speakers
The glasses have speakers built into the arms that rest near your ears. They play music, listen to podcasts, read audiobooks, and have phone calls. You can still hear everything around you, which makes them safer and more practical than earbuds in many situations.
3. Five-Microphone System
There are five microphones built in, with wind noise reduction, so your voice comes through clearly whether you are on a call, giving voice commands, or asking the AI something.
This is what lets you control the glasses mostly hands-free.
Meta AI Powered by Muse Spark
These are the first Meta glasses in collaboration with Muse Spark, a brand-new AI model developed by Meta’s own Superintelligence Labs. It is smarter and faster than the older Meta AI.
It can do unlimited stuff, including
- See what you’re seeing: You can point your glasses at something and ask what it is
- Answer questions in real time, like sports scores, restaurant suggestions, directions
- It also gives live translation in 20 languages, now including Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi and Korean
- You can also set reminders, check your calendar, and send messages, all by voice control
- It can also give you turn-by-turn audio navigation, with no display required, which is coming soon.
You activate all of these things with a dedicated action button on the side of the frame, or by voice.
Battery Life
The glasses last over 8 hours on a single charge. They come with a portable charging case that adds another 40 hours of power, so you could go several days without plugging in at all. Meta is also releasing a separate charging stand that works with most of its display-free glasses.
Privacy Controls
Because these glasses have a camera and a microphone, privacy is a genuine concern. Meta has included a small LED light on the front that turns on whenever you are recording, so people nearby can be aware.
There are also clear in-app settings to control what you share and when.
Where Can You Buy Them?
Meta Glasses are available right now in 17 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and several European markets.
You can buy them from Meta.com, Amazon, Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut and can also select Meta Lab stores (for in-person try-ons).
