New WhatsApp Feature Makes Document Sharing More Convenient

New WhatsApp Feature Makes Document Sharing More Convenient: WhatsApp has made sharing documents easier with a new feature that lets users scan documents directly in the app. This feature, available in the latest WA update for iOS (version 24.25.80), is built into the document-sharing menu. Users can now use their phone’s camera to scan and share documents without needing other scanning apps.
WhatsApp Introduces Document Scanning Feature for iOS Users
The feature is being rolled out slowly, and more users will get access in the coming weeks, according to WhatsApp’s latest update notes shared by WABetaInfo.
This new feature is a big step forward for WhatsApp, especially for people who need to share documents quickly while traveling. It removes the hassle of switching between apps, letting users capture, edit, and send scanned documents all in one place.
In the document-sharing menu, users can choose the “scan” option to open the camera. After taking a picture of the document, they can preview and adjust the scan. The app suggests margins automatically, but users can change them manually for better framing. Once the scan looks good, they can send it directly to a chat or group with ease.
Upcoming iOS Compatibility Changes: What You Need to Know
WABetaInfo first reported the new document scanning feature in WhatsApp’s iOS 24.25.80 update, and WhatsApp has been improving and expanding access to it. By adding it to the document-sharing menu, WhatsApp aims to be a one-stop platform for communication and document sharing, making things more convenient for users.
WhatsApp also announced it will stop supporting older iOS versions starting in 2025. Devices running iOS versions older than 15.1 will lose access on May 5, including older beta versions from TestFlight. Currently, WhatsApp supports iOS 12 and later, but soon iOS 15.1 will be the minimum requirement. This change will mainly affect older iPhones like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, which can only run up to iOS 12.5.7. WhatsApp is giving users five months to update their devices or find alternatives if they can’t upgrade to iOS 15.1.
