But the biggest thing is that Durov has planned to divide his full $17 billion fortune equally among these 106 children.
Everyone Will Get an Equal Share, No Discrimination
Pavel Durov clearly said, “For me, there is no difference between the children who were conceived naturally and those born from sperm donation. They are all my children, and everyone will get an equal share.”
He made this announcement while preparing his legal will. This will might be one of the most unusual inheritance cases in the world.
But the Money Won’t Come Now… Not Before 2055
This multi-billion dollar inheritance is not available to any of the children right now. Pavel Durov has decided that each child will get their share only after 30 years are over. That means after June 19, 2055.
He said, “I want my children to grow up without depending on a bank balance. They should grow on their own, struggle, and learn to trust themselves.”
Arrest in France, Pressure on Telegram, and Durov’s Strong Stand on Privacy

In August 2024, Durov was arrested at Bourget Airport in France when he landed from Azerbaijan in a private jet. The accusation was that illegal activities were happening on Telegram, including child sexual abuse material, drug trade, money laundering, and organized crime.
This case is being investigated by a special French agency that works on violence against minors. His detention was extended for 96 hours so that proper questioning could be done.
Durov said clearly, “Nothing has ever been proven against me. I only defend digital freedoms and privacy. That is why powerful people target me.”
Telegram Gave Full Support to Their CEO
Telegram quickly released a public statement saying, “Pavel Durov has nothing to hide. He travels regularly in Europe, and blaming a platform’s founder for its misuse is wrong.”
The company also said that Telegram follows the European Union’s Digital Services Act and that their content moderation meets industry standards.
On One Side a Billionaire Legacy, On the Other a Legal Battle for Privacy
Telegram is known worldwide for its focus on privacy. Its encryption is strong, and it does not share user data with any government. Because of this, Durov is seen as a hero by privacy supporters, but a problem for law enforcement.
Durov said, “Just because some criminals use our app, that does not mean the person who created the app is a criminal too.”
Billionaire Fatherhood or Digital Freedom Fighter?
This case brings together personal life, futuristic inheritance planning, and digital freedom.
106 biological children, a $17 billion inheritance frozen until 2055, and legal risks taken in the name of privacy. These are the decisions made by one of the most powerful tech founders in the world.
The question is not just what Pavel Durov has done. The real question is whether the world is ready for choices like these.
