Your iPhone is capable of performing numerous functions beyond its current use; however, there are two main causes for this issue: firstly, all of your iPhone’s capabilities have not been revealed to you yet; secondly, it is too difficult for you to see these capabilities without the help of some sort of visual aid.
As a result, most people do not know about them.
The following is a collection of helpful features that will allow you to do things faster and easier than before!
1. Set timers instantly without opening the Clock app
You don’t always need to open the Clock app just to set a timer. If the Timer is added to your Control Center, simply long-press it and choose a duration instantly. It won’t give you full flexibility for custom times, but for quick tasks, it’s much faster.
2. Use Siri without overthinking commands
You don’t need to speak in full sentences to Siri. Instead of saying “set an alarm for 7 AM,” just say “7 AM.” Want a timer? Say “20 minutes.” Siri understands shorthand commands and responds just as accurately, saving you time.
3. Switch between apps faster
Most people still use the app switcher, but there’s a quicker way. Just swipe left or right along the bottom edge of your screen to jump between recently used apps. It’s smoother and much faster once you get used to it.
4. Play background sounds without any app
Your iPhone already has built-in ambient sounds, no need to download anything.
Go to:
Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Background Sounds
You’ll find options like rain, ocean, and white noise. It’s useful for focus, relaxation, or even better sleep.
5. Get alerts when your camera lens is dirty
Blurry photos aren’t always about lighting, sometimes it’s just a dirty lens.
Turn on Lens Cleaning Hints in camera settings, and your iPhone will notify you when the lens needs cleaning. It’s a small feature, but it can noticeably improve your photos.
6. Set callback reminders directly from missed calls
If you miss a call but can’t return it immediately, you don’t have to remember it manually.
Swipe right on the call entry in your call log and set a reminder. You can choose preset options or set a custom time.
7. Lock or hide apps for extra privacy
You can go beyond just locking your phone. Long-press any app and enable Face ID protection. If needed, you can even hide the app completely, making it invisible on the home screen and app library.
It’s useful when you’re handing your phone to someone else but don’t want them accessing everything.
Most people use their iPhone in a very basic way, not because they want to, but because they don’t know what else is possible.
