DeepSeek AI: DeepSeek is banned in these seven countries, will the Chinese AI tool end like this?
Ever since the launch of the Chinese AI tool DeepSeek, it has been banned in some countries or the other every day. Now Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek has been banned in South Korea. DeepSeek has temporarily stopped downloading its chatbot apps in South Korea. The company is taking this step to resolve privacy concerns with local authorities. South Korean officials gave information about this on Monday.
South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission said DeepSeek’s apps were removed from the South Korean version of Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store on Saturday evening. The company has assured that it will relaunch its apps after working with regulators to strengthen data security.
No impact on existing users
DeepSeek AI users who have already downloaded the app or are running it on personal computers will not be affected by the ban, although Nam Seok, director of the South Korean commission’s investigation branch, has advised South Korean users to delete the app. He also said that users should not enter any personal information into the app until the issue is resolved.
DeepSeek has already been banned in these countries
Earlier, DeepSeek has been banned in India as well, although this ban is only for government employees. There is no restriction on the use of DeepSeek for common people. Australia has banned DeepSeek AI in all its government systems and devices. The country’s national intelligence agency has called it a threat to security.
The Italian government has also blocked DeepSeek AI’s services. Ireland’s Data Protection Commission has asked DeepSeek AI for more information on their data protection policies, which has led other European countries to also keep an eye on it. The Taiwanese government has banned the use of DeepSeek AI in all public sector organizations. In the US, many private companies and government agencies have distanced themselves from DeepSeek AI.
