Amazon’s New AI Smart Glasses Are Here to Help Delivery Drivers: Smart glasses seem to be popping up everywhere these days, and Amazon is the latest company to join the trend. The tech giant just announced that it’s testing AI-powered smart glasses made specifically for its delivery associates.

In a new blog post, Amazon explained that these glasses aren’t like the Ray-Ban Meta glasses made for everyday users. Instead, they’re designed to help delivery drivers make their work “safer and more seamless.” According to the company, the glasses let associates scan packages, follow walking directions, and capture proof of delivery, all without using their phones.

What Makes These Glasses Special

Amazon’s smart glasses come equipped with cameras, computer vision, and AI-powered sensors. They have a simple green monochrome display that shows package details directly in the driver’s field of view.

When a delivery driver parks their vehicle, the glasses automatically turn on and display the necessary package information. This helps drivers quickly find the right parcel inside their vehicle and match it to the correct address. After that, the glasses provide turn-by-turn navigation to guide them to the doorstep.

Designed for Comfort and Convenience

The glasses are connected to a small controller that fits into the delivery vest and are powered by a swappable battery that lasts all day. Amazon also mentioned that the glasses can support prescription lenses and lenses that automatically adjust to the surrounding light, which is a thoughtful touch for drivers who work in changing conditions.

Learning from Real Feedback

Amazon shared that earlier versions of the smart glasses were tested with delivery partners to gather feedback and fine-tune the design. The company even hinted that a “future version” might be able to detect issues, such as when a package is dropped off at the wrong house, and alert the driver if there’s a pet in the yard.

What’s Next for Amazon’s Smart Glasses

While Amazon hasn’t said when these glasses will be fully rolled out across its delivery fleet, a previous report from The Information (via UploadVR) mentioned that the company plans to launch driver glasses by mid-2026, with an initial production run of about 100,000 units.

It’s clear that Amazon’s AI smart glasses aren’t just about fancy tech. They’re about making delivery work smoother, safer, and maybe even a little bit smarter.
