Chrome for iPhone gets a new feature that Android users still do not have
Most iPhone users use Safari for browsing because it is the default browser. Safari has many useful features and one of them is the option to create different profiles. This helps keep personal and office browsing separate.
Now Chrome has also launched a similar feature for iPhone users. With this new option you can create two different profiles in Chrome one for personal and one for work. This keeps browsing history open tabs and passwords separate in each profile.
Profile switching is easy
Switching between profiles in this new Chrome update is very simple. You just need to tap on the account icon at the top and select the profile you want to use.
Extra control for office use
If your account is part of a company’s enterprise system then the IT team can check security reports and block some websites in the work profile. This helps you stay focused and keeps your data safe.
But not everyone can use it
This feature is only available for people using Google’s enterprise package. If you are a regular user then this profile switching option is not available in Chrome. In that case Safari might be a better choice because it already gives this feature for free.
Also Chrome currently supports only two profiles one for personal and one for work. It does not support more accounts right now.
Android users are still waiting
The most interesting part is that this feature is not even available for Android users yet. Whether the user has an enterprise plan or not there is no way to switch work profiles from the Chrome app on Android.
The new profile switching feature in Chrome for iPhone can be useful but only for people who have an enterprise account. Safari already gives this option to all users so if you are a regular user Safari might be a better choice.
Google has given iPhone a feature that Android users still do not have so it will be interesting to see when this update comes to other devices.
