Samsung Galaxy S24 Price Drops and Free Laptop Offers Just In Time For iPhone 16

The Samsung Galaxy S24 price has been reduced by $200 ahead of the iPhone 16 launch. This limited-time offer, available until September 2nd, includes significant savings and higher trade-in values for certain phones.

Samsung Galaxy S24 has dropped the prices just before Google introduced the Pixel 9 earlier this month. Now, with the iPhone 16 set to release in a few weeks, Samsung has once again dropped the price of its flagship smartphone.

This new deal is notable because it offers a straight $200 discount, bringing the Galaxy S24 price down to $1,219.99. These significant price cuts are usually reserved for Black Friday shopping. Still, this year, Samsung, Google, and Apple have all been aggressively trying to attract each other’s customers with various offers.

The deal is available until September 2nd and applies only if you do not have a phone to trade in. For those who do, Samsung has increased its trade-in values, something it has done multiple times this year. There are substantial savings available when purchasing the Ultra model:

Samsung Galaxy S24 Prices Drops and Offers Free Laptops Before iPhone 16 Launch
Samsung Galaxy S24
  • $650 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra
  • $600 for the Galaxy S21 Ultra
  • $500 for the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • $400 for the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max

However, Google’s Pixel range trade-in values are not as competitive as Samsung’s and Apple’s. For instance, Samsung offers just $300 for both the Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro, even though the latter was released less than a year ago.

If you own a Pixel device, Google has some appealing trade-in deals. The Pixel 8 Pro is valued at $699, the highest offer among the three companies. The Pixel 7 Pro is valued at $540, a solid amount.

Prices vary with other brands too. Google offers $635 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, compared to Samsung’s $500. On the other hand, Google only offers $360 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, while Samsung values it at $650.

The increased trade-in values are part of a pre-order promotion for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google is also offering $350 in store credit when pre-ordering the foldable phone, along with a free year of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage. This is similar to the offer for Pixel 9 buyers, but the addition of the store credit is a significant new feature.

As expected, the $350 store credit can nearly cover the cost of the $349.99 Pixel Watch 3. Samsung is running a similar promotion, offering store credit equal to the value of some of its wearable devices.

Samsung’s $1,500 Galaxy Fold 6 offer is still available. The company extended its Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 pre-order deals from the end of July to September 9th.

Samsung’s Trade-In and Credit Deals

In summary, buyers of foldable phones can enjoy double storage for free, higher trade-in values for old phones, and $300 in store credit toward a wearable device. Additionally, Samsung includes a free year of Samsung Care+ in the bundle.

Samsung claims these deals amount to $1,500 in value, although this requires trading in a Galaxy Z Fold 5 for $1,200, which might not be wise given the phone’s newness.

It will be interesting to see if Apple joins the price war among Android devices by offering its pre-order deals. Typically, Apple relies on carriers to provide discounts to iPhone pre-order buyers, but there are signs that Apple might start offering direct discounts on its hardware.

In May, Apple launched a rare promotion that temporarily increased trade-in values for old smartphones, competing closely with Samsung. In the same month, Apple reduced prices in China to compete with Huawei—a rare move for the company.
