Design and Build

The MacBook Neo features a sleek aluminium body similar to other modern MacBook models. Apple has kept the design slim and lightweight, with the laptop weighing about 2.7 pounds, making it easy to carry for work, travel or study.

The laptop will be available in four colours, silver, blush, indigo and citrus. Its rounded edges and thin profile give it a familiar MacBook look while maintaining a clean and modern design.

Display and Visual Experience

The device comes with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display that offers a resolution of 2408 × 1506 pixels. According to Apple, the screen can reach brightness levels of up to 500 nits and supports one billion colours.

An anti-reflective coating has also been added to reduce glare, making the display easier to view in different lighting conditions. This makes the laptop suitable for tasks such as watching videos, editing photos and reading documents.

Processor and Performance

The MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro processor developed by Apple. The company says the chip is designed to handle everyday computing tasks smoothly, including web browsing, media streaming, document editing and light photo work.

Apple claims the laptop can be up to 50 per cent faster for everyday tasks compared with some popular PC laptops that use Intel’s Core Ultra 5 processor.

The processor also includes:

  • A five-core GPU for graphics performance
  • A 16-core Neural Engine for artificial intelligence and machine learning tasks

These components allow the laptop to run certain AI features directly on the device without relying heavily on cloud processing.

Fan-Free Design and Battery Life

One notable feature of the MacBook Neo is its fan-less design. This means the laptop operates quietly while still maintaining good performance for regular tasks.

Apple says the device can deliver up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge, allowing users to work, study or watch videos throughout the day without needing frequent charging.

Keyboard, Camera and Audio

The MacBook Neo includes Apple’s Magic Keyboard along with a large Multi-Touch trackpad for easy navigation.

Some models also support Touch ID, which allows users to unlock the laptop or confirm purchases securely using their fingerprint through Apple Pay.

For video calls, the laptop features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera. The device also includes two microphones designed to reduce background noise and dual speakers that support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos for a better sound experience.

Connectivity Options

The laptop includes two USB-C ports that can be used for charging, connecting accessories or attaching external displays. A headphone jack is also available.

For wireless connectivity, the MacBook Neo supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6, offering faster and more stable connections for internet and device pairing.

Operating System and Software

The MacBook Neo runs macOS Tahoe, the latest operating system for Mac computers. It includes several built-in apps such as Safari, Photos, Messages and FaceTime.

The system also introduces artificial intelligence features such as writing assistance and live translation tools that work across different apps.

Sustainability and Materials

Apple says the MacBook Neo is built using environmentally friendly materials. About 60 per cent of the device is made from recycled components, including recycled aluminium in the body and recycled cobalt in the battery.

The packaging is also fibre-based and designed to be recyclable.

Price and Availability

In India, the MacBook Neo starts at ₹69,900, while students and educators can purchase it at a discounted price of ₹59,900.

Customers can pre-order the laptop now, and it will begin reaching buyers and stores from March 11.

With its lower price, lightweight design and everyday performance capabilities, the MacBook Neo is expected to appeal to students, casual users and people entering the Mac ecosystem for the first time.
