Samsung held its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year recently, and this time in London. The first Unpacked of the year happened back in February in San Francisco, where Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 series.
This second event is the one Samsung usually saves for its foldable phones and smartwatches, and this year it delivered more new products than usual, including a completely new type of foldable phone and Samsung’s first pair of smart glasses. In total, Samsung announced three foldable phones, two smartwatches, and one pair of smart glasses in this event.

1. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

The first thing to understand about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is that it is not simply an upgraded version of last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. It is a brand new type of foldable phone that Samsung has never made before.
Older Galaxy Z Fold phones open up like a small book, becoming a tall, narrow screen. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is different. It opens up into a shorter, wider screen, closer in shape to a passport when it is closed. When you hold it in portrait mode, this wider shape makes it comfortable for reading books, articles, or documents. When you turn it in landscape mode, it becomes a better shape for watching videos or playing games, since it looks closer to a small tablet screen than a tall phone screen.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899.99 in the US (GBP1,699 in the UK, AUD2,699 in Australia). So, anyone who reads a lot, watches video often, or wants a foldable that feels more like a small tablet than a tall phone may go for it.
2. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

This phone is a normal updated version of last year’s foldable phone, Galaxy Z Fold 7, following the same tall, book-style shape Samsung has used for years.
Main specifications:
- An 8-inch main foldable screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen, both at 120Hz.
- A 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
- Two 10-megapixel selfie cameras, one for each screen.
- The same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor as the Z Fold 8.
- 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
- A 5,000mAh battery.
The Z Fold 8 Ultra is also extremely thin for a foldable phone, measuring just 4.1mm when it is fully unfolded. It starts at $2,099.99 (GBP1,899, AUD2,999) and is best for people who want to upgrade from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for better camera features and battery backup.
Both the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, along with all of Samsung’s other new foldables this year, use a new hinge design called the Flex Titanium hinge. This hinge is built with a titanium alloy layer, which makes the screen stronger and helps reduce how visible the crease down the middle of the screen looks, without needing to make the phone thicker.
3. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8

This third phone announced is for people who prefer a smaller foldable that flips closed like a makeup compact, rather than a book-style foldable.
Main specifications:
- A 6.9-inch main foldable screen and a 4.1-inch cover screen, both at 120Hz.
- A 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
- A Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor in most regions, though it uses an Exynos 2600 chip in some markets outside the US.
- 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 512GB.
- A 4,300mAh battery.
Compared to the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, the Z Flip 8 is the smallest and least powerful of the three new foldables. However, it is also Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Flip phone so far, measuring 6.1mm when unfolded and weighing 180 grams.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at $1,199.99 (GBP1,149, AUD1,949), and people who want the smallest, lightest, and least expensive Samsung foldable have this as their best pick.
All three foldable phones are available for preorder now, with sales officially starting on August 7, 2026.
4. Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

Samsung also announced two new smartwatches at this event, the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
The Watch Ultra 2 is the more premium and more interesting of the two. The standout feature of this watch is its battery. It has an 800mAh battery, a big jump from the 590mAh battery in the original Galaxy Watch Ultra.
In simple terms, this will have a longer battery life between charges. The watch is also slimmer and lighter than the model it replaces, and it comes with the brightest screen of any smartwatch currently available, reaching up to 5,000 nits of brightness.
On the health tracking side, the Watch Ultra 2 introduces two new metrics:
- Daily Cardio Load, which tracks how much strain your heart and cardiovascular system are under across a full day of activity,
- Vascular Load, a new measurement metric related to blood vessel stress. It also adds hydration guidance, which reminds and helps you track drinking enough water through the day..
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 costs $699.99 (GBP649, AUD1,299). The Watch Ultra 2 is best for divers, hikers, and serious athletes who need long battery life and a tough build.
But if you do not need this level of detail and durability, the standard Galaxy Watch 9 is the more affordable option, starting at $379.99 (GBP349, AUD649), and comes with most of the everyday health tracking features most people actually use.
5. Samsung Intelligent Eyewear

The final and most-talked-about announcement was Samsung’s first pair of smart glasses, officially named ‘Samsung Intelligent Eyewear’.
Unlike the phones and watches above, these glasses are not available to preorder yet.
Samsung has only confirmed that they will be released this fall, which means sometime between September and November 2026.
Samsung has confirmed that the glasses do not have a screen. Instead, they work through a built-in camera and speakers, which means that they are designed to let you take photos, record video, listen to audio, and talk to an AI assistant.
These Samsung eyewear devices are expected to run on a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset with roughly 9 hours of battery life on a full charge. You will also be able to use both Google’s Gemini and Samsung’s own Bixby assistant through these glasses.
For frame designs, Samsung is starting with two well-known eyewear partners: Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. This suggests Samsung wants to offer both a fashion-focused option and a more everyday, casual option right from launch.
This Galaxy Unpacked event shows two clear directions from Samsung this year. First, it is no longer treating foldable phones as one single product line with one shape and second, with Samsung Intelligent Eyewear, the company is making its first real move into smart glasses, directly competing with Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses.
