You can check the coverage online with any device, you just have to visit Apple’s website at checkcoverage.apple.com. Just open the site in a browser, enter your device’s serial number into the box, and you’re all set.

To find the serial number on an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > General > About. Tap on the “Serial Number” field, and you’ll see a “Copy” option. Tap it, and you can then paste the serial number into the website’s box or copy it from a linked Mac.

For a Mac, click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen and select “About This Mac.” The serial number will be displayed beneath your hardware information, and you can copy it just like you would text on a webpage.

Understanding What’s Covered in Your Warranty

Apple’s limited one-year warranty covers manufacturer defects, such as poor battery performance or faults arising from normal use. It doesn’t cover accidental damage, like a cracked screen from a drop. Apple can check specific markers, like moisture detection strips inside the device, to see if the damage was due to user error.

AppleCare+ offers additional coverage, including two incidents of accidental damage over two years. The costs depend on the device.

Every AppleCare+ plan covers two incidents of accidental damage. If you break your screen, there’s a $29 service fee. For other damages, the fee is $99. It’s worth checking if you already have contents insurance or coverage through your credit card that might also cover such incidents.
