Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over delayed AI-powered Siri features, and some iPhone users in the United States could now be eligible to claim up to $95 per device in compensation.
The settlement comes after Apple faced accusations of heavily promoting advanced Siri features powered by Apple Intelligence that still have not arrived for users, despite being showcased nearly two years ago.
Here’s everything eligible users need to know about claiming the refund.
Which iPhones Are Eligible?
The settlement applies to users in the United States who purchased any of the following devices between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025:
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Users who purchased multiple eligible devices may receive compensation for each device included under the settlement.
How To Claim Apple’s Siri Settlement Refund
Eligible users will need to submit a claim once the official settlement process opens.
To file a claim, users will need:
- Device serial number
- Apple Account information
- Registered phone number
Apple is expected to begin sending email notifications to eligible customers within 45 days of May 5. Claim forms will then become available through the official settlement website.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is currently scheduled for June 17.
Why Is Apple Paying The Settlement?
According to the lawsuit, Apple misled consumers at WWDC 2024, as customers believed that a more intelligent and personalized experience with Siri was going to be provided through its new AI platform, called Apple Intelligence.
The announcement was so well-publicised that when Apple introduced its iPhone 16 line of products, customers expected these new features to be available shortly after.
In March 2025, Apple finally admitted that the upgrade to Siri had been delayed and removed many of the advertisements for the assistant from its marketing plan.
As of May 2026, the desired Siri upgrade has yet to see an official release.
How Much Will they Payout?
Despite agreeing to the settlement, Apple denied wrongdoing in the case.
The company said it resolved the matter to remain focused on delivering new products and services. Apple also pointed out that several Apple Intelligence features have already rolled out, including Writing Tools, Visual Intelligence and Live Translation.
Still, the case has become one of the biggest examples of growing scrutiny around AI-related promises in the tech industry.
While the estimated payout ranges from $25 to $95 per device, the final amount may vary depending on how many eligible users submit claims.
That means fewer applicants could result in larger payouts per device for those who successfully apply.
For now, eligible iPhone users are being advised to monitor their email inboxes closely and keep their device information ready once the official claim process begins.
