Apple has settled a class action lawsuit for $250 million related to Siri functionality being delayed, as Apple originally communicated.
Eligible users of iPhones may receive up to $95 per device based on their eligibility.
The class action lawsuit was brought against Apple because they were promoting Siri functionality based on Apple Intelligence for over two years, with no delivery of such features to users since they were first showcased.
Which iPhones Are Eligible?
The settlement applies to users in the United States who purchased any of the following devices between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025:
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Users who purchased multiple eligible devices may receive compensation for each device included under the settlement.
How To Claim Apple’s Siri Settlement Refund
Eligible users will need to submit a claim once the official settlement process opens.
To file a claim, users will need:
- Device serial number
- Apple Account information
- Registered phone number
Apple is expected to begin sending email notifications to eligible customers within 45 days of May 5. Claim forms will then become available through the official settlement website.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is currently scheduled for June 17.
Why Is Apple Paying The Settlement?
According to the lawsuit, Apple misled consumers at WWDC 2024, as customers believed that a more intelligent and personalized experience with Siri was going to be provided through its new AI platform, called Apple Intelligence.
The announcement was so well-publicised that when Apple introduced its iPhone 16 line of products, customers expected these new features to be available shortly after.
In March 2025, Apple finally admitted that the upgrade to Siri had been delayed and removed many of the advertisements for the assistant from its marketing plan.
As of May 2026, the desired Siri upgrade has yet to see an official release.
How Much Will they Payout?
While Apple has settled the lawsuit, it continues to deny liability in this matter.
The company released a statement indicating that it wants to settle this case to keep its attention on delivering more products and services to customers. Apple also wants customers to know about the addition of several features, including Writing Tools, Visual Intelligence, and Live Translation.
However, the case is an example of how scrutiny on AI-related promises continues to increase in the technology industry.
Depending on the number of claims submitted by eligible users, the total amount of payment will depend. Therefore, fewer claimants could mean larger payments to those successful claimants.
At this point in time, eligible iPhone users should check their inbox regularly and have the necessary information pertaining to their device ready once the official claims process begins.
